King Air in YQT
Just saw this come across my feed, Luckily all walked away. 300 series leased by the RCAF one article said but appears to be registered to Tindi.

That looks to be "The Government of Saskatchewan" aircraft, or it USED to be at one point.

Re: King Air in YQT
It was an RCAF King Air operating as NSTAR2 (North Star 2) from Trenton.
It looks like an RCAF Challenger just landed in Thunder Bay as CFC3803 and is filed back to Trenton, probably bringing the crew back to base.

I didn't know about the 350 either, but the RCAF uses King Airs out of Southport (Portage la Prairie) Manitoba to train their pilots. It's the King Air C90A (BEECH CT-145 KING AIR, RCAF designation)Bede wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 8:15 pmWhat do they use those for? There is also info on the King Air 350s here:

Re: King Air in YQT
I believe for “corporate” type flying. I used to see them in YQX once in a while. Saw a couple of the senior officers at the base get into the back of it and taxi away once or twice.Bede wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 8:15 pmWhat do they use those for? Re: King Air in YQT
They are part of the Multi Engine Utility Flight out of Trenton. Used for light transport (personnel, parts for a mobile repair party).
Re: King Air in YQT
That is one seriously broken airplane.
Definitely headed for the scrap heap.

Here's the details on the leased King Air's from the RCAF website @http://www.rcaf-arc.forces.gc.ca/en/air ... e-350.page
I guess the one that crashed wasn't painted in RCAF colours yet.

There are more than a few similarities to the incident discussed in this thread: Asymmetric Reverse Leads to King Air Excursion
Too soon to jump to conclusions, but I start to wonder….

This King Air along with C-GPDC and C-GSYC are owned by Pat Campling/Avalerion Corporation and are operated under contract to the RCAF. They're registered to Tindi, but they don't really have anything to do with them. They were previously registered to Transwest until last year under the same arrangement, though C-GEAS was Campling's personal aircraft until it switched OCs.

Jr is still naming planes after his folks? SYC looked better when it was B58. The 350 is definitely un upgrade from the "Wetdream" PDC used to be.WestTexasDeathPencil wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 5:25 pm This King Air along with C-GPDC and C-GSYC are owned by Pat Campling/Avalerion Corporation and are operated under contract to the RCAF. Re: King Air in YQT
Any update on this investigation? It's not on the TSB site and I assume that's because it's RCAF.

Interesting. Could they have pushed the left prop in reverse?JL wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 9:19 am DFS investigation.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: King Air in YQT
Unlikely, the 350 has 2 gates, conceivably they could have got one into ground fine. They do fall out of the sky if you go over the first gate in the air. You'd also have to work to get these things to stall on approach... so I'm not sure what happened.
My money is on pilot error in some form though.

Re: King Air in YQT
From what I recall, the 300/350 does have a bit of a temperamental flight/ground idle system. The flight idle stops are mechanically set by the beta valves, but the ground idle stops are set by solenoids energized by one of the squat switches. If it fails in the on position, it'll set the blade angles to the ground idle stop in an under-speed condition, even if the powers are ahead of the flight idle gate. There is an annunciator if either of the solenoids are still receiving power after takeoff, but I know that was added part way into production. EAS was a very early production 350, so there's a solid chance it didn't have it unless it was retrofitted at some point. There are low pitch annunciators, but those wouldn't illuminate until the blade angle had already dropped well below flight idle.porcsord wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 10:40 amUnlikely, the 350 has 2 gates, conceivably they could have got one into ground fine.
