An225 Jobs
Hey anyone know the current minimum requirements to get on the An225? Do you have to know someone at the company or do they hire OTS?
If there are any An225 pilots on here, I am interested to know what the schedule/pay is like and if they would hire commuters.
PM if you prefer.

Cigarettes and vodka...at least that's what the Antonov crews seemed to live on during overnights in Gander years ago.

There's one An-225 in flying condition in the world. One. You literally have a better shot of flying the Shuttle.
Best of luck though.

The AN225 was designed to carry the Buran Soviet version of the US Space Shuttle. Only did one flight (unmanned) shortly before the dissolution of the USSR upon which the program was canceled.BTD wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 7:12 pmNot sure thats true. You might be waiting awhile. The airport the 225 is presently based at has been attacked, and there’s unconfirmed rumours the 225 may have been destroyed.

Funny I thought about that aircraft this morning. I sure hope that isnt the case it has been destroyed.TC.Enforcement wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 9:48 am You might be waiting awhile. How can you tell which one is the pilot when you walk into a bar?....Don't worry he will come up and tell you.

I remember seeing a picture of a second one that’s half built in a hangar. I think they stopped working on it 30 years ago.

This didn't age well. Still a better shot of flying the Shuttle, though.Chaxterium wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 6:48 pm There's one An-225 in flying condition in the world. One. You literally have a better shot of flying the Shuttle.

Until I see a picture, I'm refusing to believe it. I don't why I love that big hulk so much, but I do.TheTurdBurglar wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 10:40 amThis didn't age well. I agree. Why would the Russians destroy one of their own crown jewels? It's very existence was why the CYQG runway got extended... Albeit only for one visit that didn't go quite as expected. There are some fun pictures of a very imposing cockpit precariously near some houses.

Because it was being run by a Ukrainian company and crew? How dare a fake country operate one of Mother Russia’s behemoths!DanWEC wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 2:33 pm I agree. I had a chance to tour it during a layover in YMX after meeting the crew in our hotel lobby. I was asked to not take pictures. Shame as it was pretty damn cool!

Re: An225 Jobs
Pretty sure it was an AN-124 (“just” the 4 engine aircraft) that had the YQG overrun, not the one of kind 6 engine AN-225.DanWEC wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 2:33 pm I agree. Well, this turned out to be a pretty poor choice to post…
My thoughts go out to everyone involved. Hopefully they can come to a peaceful agreement and no more losses are suffered.

Re: An225 Jobs
I took off behind it on runway 34 in YYC (so a few years ago) and it had to do a full power static run up in position on the runway for a few minutes before brake release, something to do with aligning their gyros. We just sat there in the holding bay and the sound was impressive, the kind of noise you can feel. Watching it lumber down the runway, and not a short runway, you get this feeling like it's not real. Nothing that big is going to fly. The whole machine was impressive really. What a loss.
