Babcock acquiring SkyNorth

Post by bcat737 »

Rumblings of Babcock acquiring SkyNorth in Winnipeg - gets them big new hangar on west side, and a foothold to fixed wing ambulance, and additional bomber maintenance space.

This is very interesting, I’d like to know how accurate your source is on this? As I think this would be a good thing to see happen

Buy them for the hangar and shut down the company? The new hanger is the only real asset they have.

Interesting, since on the 30th someone on PPRuNe posted that Babcock was trying to sell most of their 'emergency aviation arm', including air ambulance, search and rescue, and firefighting operations...

Didn't they have a deal with Fast Air?

Would be interesting to see.

To the best of my knowledge, Fast (Vanguard) is still its' own entity, and the lear is still wetleased from Sunwest.

If it DOES go through, I guess the joke about "do you work for EIC, or Babcock?" wouldn't be too far off the truth.

Also interesting that they added a Citation to their fleet - falls in line with the NPP# 28860 just announced that is a 10 yr contract for the old LifeFlight program - could be quite the ambulance campus over there with STARS next door.

Did the government spend 4 years deciding who was going to get the new medevac, only to put it up for tender again?

Shifting gears, not Babcock - hearing Sunwest now ... Manitoba would be great for them, and vis versa.
