I only ever used reverse with the tailwheel firmly on the runway. I have ridden jumpseat with skilled DC3T pilots who have eased into beta with the tail up, but the application of reverse thrust was minimal as the tail settled nicely. You gotta be sure thought, that you're going to get even thrust in reverse on both sides, or it's a world of hurt. I am very cautious with the use of reverse when you still need the tail to be acting like a tail, as it will rob the tail of streamlined airflow, and thus effectiveness. I scared myself in the 182 amphib on the step after landing when I applied some reverse and the airplane started to dance around. I didn't do that ever again.

The use of reverse after touchdown in airliners is very well established, and defined. Use of reverse for propeller airplanes has a few more gotcha's and should bee approached with good training, or caution.
