United picked on the wrong guy, this time.
CFL player takes out United employee who picked a fight. Charged by police.
No charges laid against the gate agent.
“United Airlines also issued a statement.
"United Airlines does not tolerate violence of any kind at our airports or on board our planes and we are working with local authorities in their investigation of this matter,"
WTF?? The employee started the fight! . Watch the video.
“Calgary Stampeders wide receiver Brendan Langley was arrested and charged with simple assault Thursday after getting into a fight with a United Airlines employee.
The employee slapped Langley in the face, prompting Langley to look around and ensure that everyone saw that he wasn’t the instigator, before landing several punches that sent the employee over the airline counter. The employee then got up, with the right side of his face bloodied, and tried to engage Langley to fight him once again.
It's certainly a good thing for the airline worker that Langley decided not to re-engage. This was a beat down.”

Dude brought a slap to a fist fight
But seriously the employee was not charged? That’s some serious

Always two sides of a story.
I'm not sure who started the verbal fight first. I don't recall United's employees necessarily having a kind reputation with "clients" lol
"Langley was accused of using a wheelchair to transport his luggage instead of a paid-for luggage cart"

The customer...is always wrong. Could be a slogan.
I intervened and asked a gate agent once to be nice to my 80 year old mother in law when the agent started literally rudely, and loudly, chewing her out and holding up the line for being 1 pound overweight. We were trying to fix it and the agent yelled at her to get out of the line. Then I said something.
Gate agent immediately called the cops on me, (and they rolled their eyes the whole time about it)
Re: United picked on the wrong guy, this time.
Maybe they shouldn't be charging for luggage carts? Just a thought.

Maybe gate agents should take mandatory anger management classes when hired?
Re: United picked on the wrong guy, this time.
I think maybe they shouldn’t employ gate agents that need an anger management course?
Perhaps that’s discriminatory of me.

Re: United picked on the wrong guy, this time.
I got screwed once coming back from Frankfurt. Air Canada allows is 10 lbs more than Lufthansa. I was 5lbs over coming back apparently, so I made the gate agent wait while put on an extra sweater, stuffed the pockets, then an extra jacket and stuffed the pockets. I was 0.5 lb under, walked through the gate and stuff the items into my carry on. What a shit show.

Seems that at many airlines it is a requirement to be an arrogant jerk to get hired.

Maybe if the big healthy looking football player hadn’t tried to use a wheelchair to haul his luggage the situation would never have happened. Wheelchairs are for handicapped people not cheapskate people to use as luggage carriers.

However, does that justify a slap to the face by an airline employee?
I guess all airports should have free carts so airline employees don’t have to slap customers.
Seems everyone also assumes the football player was just cheap and didn’t want to pay a couple bucks for a cart. Maybe there were no carts around. Maybe he didn't have change.
Re: United picked on the wrong guy, this time.
Nothing justifies the returned punch. If he'd stayed calm, the police may have arrested the gate employee.
Re: United picked on the wrong guy, this time.
If you watch the video, the football player clearly slaps the employee, not the other way around. I thought it was strange that an airline employee would just slap a passenger out of the blue. Did you not actually watch the video, Rookie? Just have a deep seated hatred for all airlines? The employee lifts his hand to prevent the football player slapping him.
What a waste of space.

That looks like a clean slap to the face, unless you are confused with which one is the football playerCpnCrunch wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 7:44 am If you watch the video, the football player clearly slaps the employee, not the other way around. Not ok to use wheelchair as baggage cart - check
Not ok to slap customers - check
Not ok to punch people who slap you - check
Got it. Good work, people.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

You've picked an edited version of the clip (or the news outlet did). Here is the full one:WellThatAgedWell wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 7:49 am

The football player hit the employee first. The slap was well after the start.

Re: United picked on the wrong guy, this time.
There's a longer video available online where the football player slaps the employee before the employee slaps back.

Loser football player so innocent now? The employee takes several slaps and dodges several punches before the video you guys posted.

Interesting yahoo sports going with the cut version.
I stand corrected. With any video you see there's what happened before and what happened after. Typical media spin put on this one. You would think yahoo would take the video down when they find out the full version exists.
Edit: I guess it will take eye witness accounts to know what was going on before the altercation. Journalism today is a toilet bowl looking for clicks not facts.
