Coffee Mug Search for 737

Hopefully not too politically charged of a topic.

ISO a good insulated coffee mug/tumbler that fits in the mug holders in the cockpit of the 737 Max. Most standard sizes ones I have tried are too big. Need something that can keep liquid hot for ~8 hours.

Yeti seems to be the gold standard for keeping beverages hot or cold, with a wide variety of sizes/shapes of containers. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it as they do perform as advertised.

A cheaper, yet decently performing, alternative to Yeti would be Camelbak.

Might be a bit of trial and error in finding a size/base diameter that will fit in the Max's cupholders. Wouldn't hurt to take a measurement, and then go from there.

So I labour under an irrational obsession with design and performance of consumer products. Lol. It's as fun as it sounds, especially for my wife when it's time to buy, well anything.

Anyhow I've found Yeti to be alright- high end marketing and design for midrange performance. But without going to some boutique manufacturer, far and away the best mug I've found for keeping coffee hot is one specific model of Thermos.

I've had 3 in the last 10 years that have been all over the North and the rest of the world. It a roughly 14-16oz metal mug with a stepped base so it fits in smaller cupholder, available with or without a handle. The problem with 99% of these mugs is that they don't insulate the lid, while that's fine for keeping drinks cold it doesn't work so well for keeping coffee hot. This thermos mug has a thick mechanism and a rubber seal that pops down by moving a lever on top. It's the only one I've found that won't have a warm lid after a few minutes which would indicate it's losing heat. Like 6 hours in a parked BE10 at -40 and it's still hot. Fits in the bus cupholder, not sure about 73.

Ya can get them at Walmart for about 40 bucks.

Gsi Microlite. Thin, fits every cupholder without pulling it out. . . stays hot for too long.

Just pull the liner out of the holder on the centre consul. You can fit nearly any mug in there then.

Doesn't leak when closed, keeps it piping hot for hours.

I went to walmart.ca and searched for "thermos stainless". Dozens upon dozens of them came up. Not much good.

The Yeti Rambler 10oz/280ml fits in the 737 cupholders. It really doesn't hold very much liquid, but it stays hot for hours and hours.

Some others might have a longer "hot" rating on paper but this is the best I've had in practice. Seals well too for tossing into the security bins.

Stainless steel, with a plastic lid. Slim enough that it fits in most cupholders I've seen. I can fill it with boiling hot beverage at the beginning of a ski day, leave it outside in sub-zero, and it's just cool enough to sip at lunch, and then finlly drink without problems by 3 or 4 pm.

I'm happy with Contigo, there's a large version I found at Walmart that holds a Large Timmy's/ McD's coffee perfectly. Problem is it fits the 737 cup holder a little too tightly and frequently the liner sticks to the bottom of your mug. apparently that liner is $250 from Boeing as guys keep accidentally putting their cup away in their bags with the liner still attached.

Is your airline's coffee so bad that your have to bring cofffee with you? My insulated coffee mug is for the drive in. After that I can deal with what the passengers are served.
