Cheapskates.

Post by ‘Bob’ »

You heard me, Cameron Air; you’re a cheapskate.
Cameron Air Service is a Toronto based company (CYTZ) currently seeking a qualified PC12 Captain to support our year-round executive charter operations on the aircraft.

Qualifications:
Type rating on the Pilatus PC-12NG **Please do NOT apply without one**
Candidates with a valid PPC on the aircraft will be given priority.
Fortunately anyone with a PC-12 rating likely already has one foot in a Dash.

Shit if they can name their price so can we, I'm not currently looking but I am current on the PC-12. Now for the PITA of living anywhere near YTZ and driving into work I would say my Price is about 200k yr plus pension and benefits. Now you all have a benchmark, happy hunting.

Can you even get a type rating on a PC12? It’s not high performance.

These days of employers demanding what they want are over. Pony up or get out. That said, downtown Toronto is full of morons. I'm sure there is a weak minded, failed out regional pilot who still has a good PPC on a PC12 that will sign up to this. You couldn't pay me enough to drive into downtown Toronto for anything.

That’s what I was thinking but wanted to make sure I wasn’t getting something wrong.

So even worse… they don’t know what’s going on.

They likely just want to save on initial training which is what… an extra 5 hours or something? Give me a break.

If you can’t afford that on a multi-million dollar airplane, you can’t afford to be in business.

Airplanes aren’t cheap. Show me the money!

They are trying to avoid the mandatory initial sim course, required because it's single engine IFR. Both the PC12 and the C208 require sim for IFR flight with passengers. No excusing their post, just clarifying.

And it could be they need to replace somebody that has one foot in the dash, and they cant get a sim slot for another 6 months, so just trying to stay in business in the interim.

Read first article and correlate with the CEO of the second. It's a unique enough name... And yes...

Yikes. Do you know if it is actually the same person?

Ok, fair enough for the sim.

But, what’s interesting is that if you are treat and pay people well, you don’t have to train new people. Or if you treat them like crap.. maybe you’d better have a regular sim slot booked. Or get something with more engines.

It’s obvious that this would have to be a destination job. Nobody with PC-12 training from ORNGE or RCMP or another private or commercial operator is going to go there. They are either happy where they are or on the way up.

But that article makes perfect sense. An OCD egomaniac who likely still thinks he’s all that in spite of what he did.

$200k would be decent before that. Now there isn’t enough money in the world.

I`ve stumbled into this thread quite by accident, and now you present me with this. That is an unusual take on a difficult subject, and it was worth the effort to read it. Much respect for the author, Sarah Fulford, and kudos to you, Mr. Goose, for posting it.

If the requirements are to cheap out on training it would be awful nice if they offered a signing bonus, no?
