And the scenes from Pearson airport are an embarrassment to the whole nation. Canada's claim to being a first-world country is losing credence with every passing year. Fish rot from the head down. Canada has been in an exponential decline in all areas of life since 2015.

It isn't any better at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

Capacity has already been reduced but it hasn't helped much.

Took me 2 hours from check in to clear security. The line ran out of the terminal then back in before going upstairs to departures - about 600m in length. This on the Schengen side of the airport - not sure how this compares to the International side.

In the arrivals area there are suitcases piled up everywhere. Recently part of the automated baggage system failed and aircraft left without bags.

Large number of escalators/moving walkways are out of service - I never used to see that. On top of everything else there aren't enough maintenance workers.

No simple solutions as security clearance needed to work airside - this takes time - this is a bottleneck. This has to be completed before any training can take place.

Stay away.

Had this discussion about Transport Canada just last night. Not one of their staff got laid off during COVID and yet it now takes months to hear back from them if at all. Any idea what is happening with them?
The whole airport fiasco in my mind is probably somewhat intentional in preventing people from travel, let us see what the excuses are when the workers have gained their clearance.

A good friend of mine is a TC inspector. I remember him telling me 3 years ago that many there just dont care about doing much of anything.
Particularly recall him telling me about AOC applications that had been sitting over a year, that nobody was bothering with.

They are much like cops, no worries about consequence for their gross behaviours

Canada is one of the least productive nations economically. We have a huge weight dragging this country down and its the glut of government workers all sucking the nipples of politicians dry.

This country would be better off if we focused on more privatization. Sorry folks, it's a sad reality but we can't all sit on our ass and call ourselves government workers. You actually need a private sector to drive the economy.

All levels of government are extremely unproductive. Municipalities, huge waste. Province, its not a lack of funding in healthcare its how the money is spent. Federal government, can't find anything responsible they do with our taxes. Completely inadequate military, money all wasted on other nonsense.
