YYC Bus surcharge

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to convince YYC Airport Authority to drop the public transit airport surcharge for airport workers.
Please help me by signing and sharing this. Even if you don't take the bus, or aren't based in YYC feel free to sign. If it doesn't help you directly it might help the guy who makes you coffee at the airport Tim Horton's.

Re: YYC Bus surcharge
How about a fuel and parking refund for those who don't have access to public transit and must drive to the airport?

Re: YYC Bus surcharge
Don't you get Employee parking at a fraction of the cost of regular customer parking? That's kinda the same thing as what I'm asking for.
The fact that your employer probably covers the parking cost is just the cherry on the cake. I'm not even asking for that as a transit user, but you're right it's not fair that airlines usually cover employee parking but not transit passes. Maybe that's something we should ask for in the future. For now we'll just ask to be treated like any other transit user taking the bus to and from work.

Maybe we should ask for that in the future. For the time being, we just want to be treated the same as any other transit user that rides the bus to and from work.

Re: YYC Bus surcharge
You mean the extra fare for leaving the airport?
Do you know a regular monthly pass works for that ride?

Re: YYC Bus surcharge
Great news everyone! Calgary City Council has voted 8 vs 3 in favour of the new transit fare schedule. This means that as of June 6th 2023 the Airport Boarding Pass surcharge will become a thing of the past, not only for airport workers, but for everyone! I would like to thank all of you for signing the petition and writing your councillors. I also would like extend my gratitude to Mr. Jonathan Lea from Calgary Transit for supporting us over the past 16 months.

Re: YYC Bus surcharge
Well that’s nice. Soon I can go hangout at the airport for the cost of two regular tickets.

It's not showing up as a special fare on their website.
Re: YYC Bus surcharge
Yep looks like they finally got rid of it! Not showing up as a ticket option on the Calgary transit app anymore either.

Re: YYC Bus surcharge
The surcharge is gone. We hopped on the bus and used regular single fare tickets to ride home a few weeks ago.
Re: YYC Bus surcharge
The way that your manager most likely takes care of the stopping expense is only the cherry on the cake. I'm not in any event, requesting that as a travel client, yet you're correct it's just a little unreasonable that carriers generally cover worker stopping yet not travel passes. Perhaps that is something we ought to request from here on out. Until further notice, we'll simply request to be dealt with like some other travel client taking the transport to and from work.
