KINGSTON, Ont. - One person is dead after a small plane crash in eastern Ontario on Saturday afternoon.
Ontario Provincial Police say they received several calls from members of the public who reported seeing a small aircraft go down near the southern tip of Bob's Lake in Frontenac County.
They say emergency crews and members of the public started searching the area for the downed aircraft.

The plane was located just before 5 p.m.

At 1248, on 24 September 2022, a privately operated Quad City Ultralight Aircraft Corporation
(Quad City) Challenger II advanced ultralight aircraft (registration C-IYDD, serial number CH2-0604
-2481) departed a private grass runway near Yarker, Ontario, for a daytime visual flight rules flight
to Westport/Rideau Lakes aerodrome (CRL2). The pilot was the sole person onboard.
At approximately 1515, the aircraft was seen flying in a southerly direction near Bob’s Lake, east of
Parham, Ontario. The aircraft engine was heard sputtering. The aircraft was then seen to slow and
then drop vertically before turning over upside down. The engine lost power and the aircraft
collided with terrain in a wooded area. The pilot was fatally injured, there was no post-impact fire
but the aircraft was destroyed by impact forces. There was no emergency locator transmitter on
board and none was required by regulations.
At 1521, local residents called 911 to report the accident. At 1635, a Canadian Armed Forces
CH146 Griffon helicopter located the aircraft and 2 Search and Rescue technicians were hoisted
down from the helicopter to the accident site. Shortly after, local firefighters arrived and assisted
with the recovery of the pilot.
