Voyageur can burn to the ground…..
I feel like paying to highlight your advertisement on PCC every few weeks isn’t going to help attract anyone….. especially if you are only offering 63k base pay for a type rated CRJ captain…….

Re: Voyageur can burn to the ground…..
A "FLEXIBLE" schedule that only offers one choice, 8 weeks on, 8 weeks off. I guess the "flexible" part is what you do on your 8 weeks off !!!!
Re: Voyageur can burn to the ground…..
Imagine what kind of looser with 2000 hrs Pic/ 4000TT / 750 PIC on type would accept 64K to be gone on a 8 weeks rotation away from home.
BTW flexible means you get to stay another 4 weeks after your 8 weeks rotation for some extra shekels.

In twenty years time when your kids ask how you got into flying you want to be able to say "work and determination" not "I just kept taking money from your grandparents for type ratings until someone was stupid enough to give me a job"
Re: Voyageur can burn to the ground…..
What are “incentives applicable to an 8 week rotation”?

Who the heck would work under such deplorable conditions?! Without wishing to cause offence, all I can imagine is that it’s now the French Foreign Legion equivalent for cast-outs from the industry who can’t work in Canada for whatever reason?! Double that salary and they still wouldn’t have anyone apply.
Re: Voyageur can burn to the ground…..
You’d be surprised at the kind of response you can get from being visible on PCC. Back when I cared about such things I used to dread making any company updates on there as the following day I’d be buried in resumes from all over the world.Dronepiper wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 5:40 pm I feel like paying to highlight your advertisement on PCC every few weeks isn’t going to help attract anyone…
Re: Voyageur can burn to the ground…..
Base salary is just that, a base salary so they must have some kind of field pay on top of that, or something similar....I hope so!
Re: Voyageur can burn to the ground…..
Updated job ad on their website with the field pay now included in the salary. CRJ ad still lists "plus incentives" but there are none beyond that. Q400 ad has the incentives line removed.

An overall indication of the health of our industry. ( not very good) The culture of subservient machismo needs to change. What does this mean? Well, from my perspective, it means a level of subservience that has pilots backstabbing eachother in an odd competition to see who can be loved more by their employer ( small balls contest) . It has pilots : flying unsafe /equipment, over weight, over duty, beyond their individual capabilities, insufficient fuel, not mentoring other pilots, underpaid, working years on the ramp without any mentorship ( ramp could and can be a mentorship opportunity) under skilled, and not taking their profession seriously.
Part of this is also not studying/ hitting the books in their off time and senior pilots passing along operational knowledge to Junior pilots. With that said, when I’m working two jobs to make ends meet in a major city my inclination to hit the books is limited.
I digress, It’s “ cool” to do these things.( act unprofessionally) When a pilot comes along that refuses to do these things his/ her own colleagues throw said pilot under the bus. I don’t blame the employer necessarily… I blame the colleagues.
Then, eventually there’s a hull loss due to these things. Said pilot (who pushed the limits) bends metal or worse and there’s a witch hunt.
The issues start and end with us as pilots unfortunately. The divide and conquer approach works well! Employers know it, unions know it, and so does TC.

4000 hours, with 2000 PIC and 750 PIC on type for that salary?
What a joke. Maybe for an FO.

Wow, that's an insulting salary! I made more flying light turboprops 15 years ago. I can't imagine they are getting any quality applicants.
Re: Voyageur can burn to the ground…..
8 weeks on/8 weeks off can work well for some people who love the extended time off for whatever their personal reason is. It is nice to see some options instead of the maximum 3 day off thing where I worked in the past.
Bottom line, it allows you to live anywhere you want.

Did you ever stop to think that not everyone wants to live in Toronto? Let alone Canada? A friend that did a stint there told me their pilots lived all over the world. These types of contracts are probably very attractive to someone who'd rather purchase a 2000sqft waterfront Condo in Cartagena for 200K and live like a king vs making 250K in Toronto working for AC and still be miserable.goingmissed wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 9:43 amTry living in Toronto on that salary.pelmet wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 9:41 am 8 weeks on/8 weeks off can work well for some people who love the extended time off for whatever their personal reason is. I think you missed my point... I was replying specifically to the comment "Bottom line, it allows you to live anywhere you want."Tbayer2021 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 10:00 amDid you ever stop to think that not everyone wants to live in Toronto? I got your point. Obviously not every job is going to be a good fit for everyone. Does the best paying flying job in Canada allow you to live in the bridal path? Hell, its gotten to the point where even 200K a year isn't enough to purchase a decent home in Toronto. But the vast majority of of those jobs wouldn't allow you to live in other parts of the planet if that's what you wanted.

Wholeheartedly agree! Thankfully its not as low as what some bottom of the barrel grease monkey will work for.
