ATC medical delays ? Are they still happening?

Post by McKinley »

Hello,

I’m trying to get a pilot cat 1 medical done. I’ve been told to expect a minimum of a 1 year wait for processing. ( if the paper work doesn’t get lost in the process)

From my perspective, these wait times are unacceptable - I’m writing my local opposition MP.

Post-pandemic, how are things looking for controllers ? Is there medical delays as well? If yes, is this causing delays/ reduced system capacity/ safety? ( I’m not flying currently )

Thanks in advance ..

Well I’ve been waiting for nearly 2 years for my Cat 1 medical… I have done 2 Medicals signed off fit to fly and nothing from transport. And that’s after two other years of back and forth paperwork and hoop jumping prior to loosing it. Good luck. Be the squeaky wheel is all I’ve heard…bug the @&#$ out of them.

Absolutely! It’s gotten so bad that Nav is hiring people who are still waiting on their medical clearances because they wouldn’t have any new controllers otherwise!
