Thought I'd start a thread for anybody with memories of the bad old days in Bronson and the many characters that worked there...

I never flew there but a good friend of mine, hereafter known as "BJ", flew the Bristol into Bronson LOTS in years past.
I've heard many many stories...

There is one of the characters I was refering to, bull headed, cantankerous, prefers the term "curmudgeon" for some reason.

Where's Slamin' Lamon now? He still flying the Herc? Last time I talked to him he was threatening to move to Ketchikan to fly a beaver...

Think he's still in anchorage, but working as a carpenter now. Last I heard he was still talking about Ketchican though.

It wasnt untill recently when i mentioned Bronson Creek in Whitehorse did i really start to feel that maybe it wasnt just me that thought it a bit demmanding somedays. Was it the carniage that met you on final, the tail of the -4 when the river was low showing or maybe the thought of getting airborne having a problem but still having to fly away from the only safe place to land untill you could turn around? Ten years ago but as a 600hr pilot in the mountains for the first time flying single pilot in a twin hitting bronson on crew change days still stands out as maybe a notch too high on the fun-o-meter!! Loved it when the Bristol fired up with those sleeve valve hurcules purring...BIG SMILE STILL!!!

It was a bit demanding I reckon, 15 aircraft and 17 persons claimed ( or was it the other way around),over 10 yrs. between Johnny Mtn. and Bronson Creek.
