Anyone heard any reports on forest snow cover and how it might affect spring fire work? Things looking early, late? Heard from a friend that there have been few grass fires in southern Maritimes already, seems early for it. But then, bring it on ,eh.

Ask me in the fall and I will tell you. I have been in the firefighting game for over 20 years and it seems everytime they gear up for a busy one because of lack of snow etc. it starts raining May 1st and never stops. The years that no one gets concerned because of lots of snow and a forecasted late breakup, we usually get caught with our pants down and end up scrambling.

Been in the firefighting business for longer than I want to remember and CL Guy is totaly correct. A winter of no snow(ie NB ),could be raining from mid April to mid May.July ,busier than a one armed wall paper instalation man.Lots of snow in the spring ,every one eases off a bit ,but still have to have the A/C ready.
