Doesn't HJ already have the rotary contract?
Fixed wing is another thing altogether - IIRC it calls for 14 aircraft - does HJ have deep enough pockets to buy/lease that many new aircraft? If not, who are they going to get in bed with to fund the acquisition?
who else is in the running? I've heard HJ, Carson, Summit, perhaps London Air...

What date is the contract awarded? How long is the term? Can't find much about it on google.

Canwest bought 9 new KA for the AB contract a few years back and at the time rumor was it they had BC in their sights.
Re: Who is the BC Medevac contract going to?
Perimeter. Get some non-cargo Metros back in BC again. (Yes I know EIC also owns Carson. But it would be funny).

Believe the reveal is early in the new year.

If they follow Alberta Health's lead, the company who gets the "fair and equally contended" contract will already have purchased the aircraft 6 months before the reveal.

What kind of BS is that. It has always been the standard to bid on a contract, cross your fingers your lowball gets accepted, then once awarded go out and find machines and crew to support said contract at the bare minimal of serviceability. You spend the next few months barely meeting contractual obligations and hoping you don't pile one into the side of a mountain.
This making sure the company biding on the contract is already tooled up and most likely ready to perform sounds so futuristic and I'm not sure BC is ready for that.
How can you tell which one is the pilot when you walk into a bar?....Don't worry he will come up and tell you.
Re: Who is the BC Medevac contract going to?
Do you really think a multi million dollar contract like this is going to be fair and equitable. Behind closed door deals are being made or have been made long ago.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was farmed out through a company south of the borderSeptRepair wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 9:47 amWhat kind of BS is that. This is ridiculous. The government always made sure to award the contract not to the cheapest but the most capable provider. It’s not about money but about quality of the service. They will make sure all employees are treated fairly with the proper aircraft for the job. The government has a great track record when it comes to safety and reliability of their medevac providers, always looking for the most modern fleet and experienced pilot.SeptRepair wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 9:47 amWhat kind of BS is that. $afety is the number 1 priority!

Oh yeah. Maybe back in the 70s and 80s.. or maybe not in BCSeptRepair wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 9:47 amWhat kind of BS is that. The last big contract was in 2006 and spread out. Contract was for new or newish and more capable aircraft. Everyone who got it was already experienced with medevac and flying in BC. Each of the companies have had accidents but not related to that medevac contract.
When was the last time a BC medevac plane crashed? In Massett back in the 90s pretty sure aside from a wheels up in Sandpit in early 00s.
The only BS is having the planes lined up. It means nothing. Someone buys some planes or slots.. doesn’t get the contract… sells them to the company that does. Pretty dumb to buy planes without a contract.
Plus no contact is going to be hit the ground running. There’s always time between awarding and being in compliance.

The name Babcock was being thrown around about this in other forums…. For the rotary side‘Bob’ wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 7:08 pmOh yeah. Re: Who is the BC Medevac contract going to?
Going to be interesting to see if pilots can be found to fly these planes. BCEHS still has ridiculously high pilot experience requirements, and demands all pilots are sim trained. Wasn't Carson's bond nearly $40,000?

I'm sure that, like military procurement, there's a large component of 'buy at home' in the system. Babcock certainly has deep pockets to afford the new planes, but one wonders who will be their front-end 'Made in BC' partner?Bug_Stomper_01 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 7:51 pm

Westex had a deer strike on the coast/Island in the early 2000's and Helijet had a NLG up landing at yvr also in the earlier 2000's.‘Bob’ wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 7:08 pmOh yeah. Where's the refreshed tender listed? So many players out there, but none with conditions or reputations to staff 14 aircraft.

Re: Who is the BC Medevac contract going to?
the RFP *was* on BC Bid - it might still be there? But, the bid was closed at the end of September, and now all potential contractors are waiting for the awarding of the contract.
