How long did it take for you to recieve your medical? YYZ
I did my medical near the end of August and it's been almost 3 months now and I've still yet to hear back. I am in Toronto.
Anyone else in Toronto still waiting? My course starts in April and I'm moving across the country forit so would really like to have this sorted asap.

Transport Canada sucks for getting medicals out, few guys have waited over 9-12 months to get it. Nav Canada is aware of this and will let you start basic training without the physical medical. However you do need it before you are allowed to control live traffic. So keep bugging Transport Canada for it
Re: How long did it take for you to recieve your medical? YYZ
What if during those 6+ months you finish generic training, perhaps start specialty (not sure if you can without the medical certificate), and then TC gets back to you saying that they won't issue the certificate because they're not happy with some aspect of your medical results meaning you might have to leave the program. Could this be a valid concern? One would hope that they would review it and let you know ASAP if there's anything wrong or that needs follow up...RiderYYZ wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 9:47 pm Transport Canada sucks for getting medicals out, few guys have waited over 9-12 months to get it. From what I was told by the doctor who did my cat2, if he deems it eligible to be sent out then you will be receiving a certificate from TC regardless. It just takes forever apparently. The sooner you do it, the better it is all around. I also sent an email to nav canada just to keep them abreast of the situation.
Re: How long did it take for you to recieve your medical? YYZ
I thought so as well. When I spoke with my CAME, he told me that if there was anything unsatisfactory, for example your vision not being up to standard, he'd send you back to get it fixed first then have you come back to complete the medical. If it was sent in you should be good to receive the license, there just may be some situations where the RAMO wants extra info. If that's the case, it's where the delays can really kick in.Zyepherjr wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 5:52 am From what I was told by the doctor who did my cat2, if he deems it eligible to be sent out then you will be receiving a certificate from TC regardless. How did you find the hearing test? I was really worried about it due to my line of work plus motorcycle riding, clubs, concerts etc. Apparently my hearing is fine as per the audiologist aside from a certain frequency in my left ear. I'm not sure if that would be enough for the RAMO to warrant a deeper dive but I suppose time will tell.000 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 6:19 amI thought so as well. Re: How long did it take for you to recieve your medical? YYZ
Yea, that's what I kinda mean by being uncertain if they'll want more information from a specialist or not depending on where you fall into their required range. My CAME said some RAMOs are more strict than others when it comes to reviewing so who knows.Zyepherjr wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 1:25 pmHow did you find the hearing test? When did you do your medical? I only did mine recently. However, I spoke with Nav Canada and they're aware of delays and some individuals requiring additional tests, so they work with you throughout training to get it all sorted.
Re: How long did it take for you to recieve your medical? YYZ
I did my medical the third week of November. Literally as soon as I got off the phone with nav canada I searched the nearest CAME and booked an appointment. I've also apprised nav canada of the situation.000 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 2:01 pmYea, that's what I kinda mean by being uncertain if they'll want more information from a specialist or not depending on where you fall into their required range. Re: How long did it take for you to recieve your medical? YYZ
Yea now all we can do is just sit and wait. It's good that Nav Canada is aware of all this. However, as was mentioned, if your CAME sent the results in, it generally means you'll be good to receive the certificate (barring those few instances where a bit more details are required).
Re: How long did it take for you to recieve your medical? YYZ
How do I even go about bugging them, they dont reply to emails, dont pick up the phone, voicemailbox is fullRiderYYZ wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 9:47 pm Transport Canada sucks for getting medicals out, few guys have waited over 9-12 months to get it. Re: How long did it take for you to recieve your medical? YYZ
I got mine in about 2 weeks in YWG.
Re: How long did it take for you to recieve your medical? YYZ
Well guys, it looks like I was wrong about the timeline. I just received my certificate in the mail yesterday. So all in all just under 2 months for me. Anybody else get theirs?
Re: How long did it take for you to recieve your medical? YYZ
I did mine Nov as well right after offer. YYZ. Still waiting. I emailed TC to confirm they got my papers, and after a month and half received a reply that they received my application and it is being reviewed. If they need any other info, they’ll email me. Hopefully I get mine soon, it’s the last hanging piece!
Re: How long did it take for you to recieve your medical? YYZ
What email did you email? I sent them an email in October (did medical in August) and never heard back...Jamjam wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 6:08 pm I did mine Nov as well right after offer. YYZ. This is such a headache. If I was at least staying in the same FIR I wouldn't mind but I'm spending over 10k moving and signing a lease in another province for training... This is just added unnecessary stress...
Re: How long did it take for you to recieve your medical? YYZ
My medical in the YYZ FIR took 6 weeks. Definitely check up on yours.
I think they said if they needed to contact you it would be done through the Canada Post electronic communications platform (I don't recall exactly). I'd make sure there haven't been any communications to you through this system that maybe you missed, since >3 months is strange if we're all getting it in <2 months here.
