You have jumpseat agreement with a bunch of companies but you're on your own.

In other words it would probably be tough, I know Sunwing used to have multiple winter bases so if you were living in one of those it probably wouldn’t be so bad but I couldn’t imagine trying to commute while being the lowest possible stby priority at every company and having no actual jumpseat access.

I commuted when I started and yes, it was rough but doable. I know some Maritimers who did it for years and of course, as your seniority increases, it gets easier.
You still have a few Winter bases. YWG YHZ.
They were trying to put pilots in Regina and YXE but it didn't work.
You also have yul yyz yqb yvr yyc as permanent base, I am not sure about yeg.
The past years we had the European deployment.
Wether it will stay is just a guess. But deployments are are great way to mitigate the pain of commuting while collecting 5k a month in per diem.
