Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find in this business

Re: Nepal ATR 72 Crash.
The little video clip makes it look like it stalled.
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself
Re: Nepal ATR 72 Crash.
Any ATR guys on here able to tell flap setting from the vid?
Re: Nepal ATR 72 Crash.

Re: Nepal ATR 72 Crash.
Looks like flaps 15. What's more interesting is the Flightradar24 archive shows thier altitude skyrocket to 100,000', so I'm guessing there was an ADC issue and they flew it into the stall with unreliable info. If the airplane thought it was at 100000' static pressure, the overspeed would be going off at any airspeed, and indicated data would be horribly innaccurate. Likely a lot of confusion in the cockpit
Re: Nepal ATR 72 Crash.
I had guys in the sim last week. I beat them up in unusual attitudes and uprt. Unreliable airspeed, pick a known attitude, and power for configuration and return to airport. Showed the trace within -5 to +15 of required airspeed. More SIM training coming up.
Re: Nepal ATR 72 Crash.
Well - they certainly stalled......
New info out today. From AVherald:
New info out today. From AVherald:
On Feb 6th 2023 Nepal's AIC reported that both flight data and cockpit voice recorders were successfully read out in Singapore. According to first analysis of the flight data recorders both propellers of the aircraft went into the feather position. The reason for the feathering of both propellers is still being determined, human factors as well as technical factors are still under investigation.

Re: Nepal ATR 72 Crash.
I have a couple of friends who had FOs pull the props in to feather instead of pushing them in to fine. Brain farts.
Re: Nepal ATR 72 Crash.
That was my first thought too. Isn't that what happened to the Basler that ended up in the lake in Fort Hope? Or maybe that time it was the condition levers.
