I became eligible for offer for FSS about a month ago. Are there any FSS here that can speak to what a day in your life is like?
-what is your favourite/least favourite thing about the job
-was it easy to relocate?
-is it challenging/fulfilling?
-how is the pay?
-how do you find the shift work and what is a typical shift schedule for you?
-do you have time/energy to do activities outside work?
I also found this video on the ATSAC website which gives a nice overview but was hoping for some more personal details about what you like/dislike about the job.

Thank you!
Any FSS here? Wondering what that is like

Re: Any FSS here? Wondering what that is like
I am FSS at a remote site. We work longer hours and (probably) more overtime but the pay is significantly higher. Relocation as a single person was not too difficult, the company pays for and arranges pretty much everything, but it may be challenging with a family.
My site is fairly quiet but some sites are quite busy. Some of your questions will depend largely on which site you're at. Here specifically, "challenging and fulfilling" is sometimes a bit of a stretch but I do enjoy my work overall. Schedules vary significantly as there is no template for schedules and some sites are not 24/7. I find there is still time for activities outside of work but you definitely have to prioritize.
Feel free to message me if you have more questions.
