Sim eval
Hey peeps,
Just a quick question.
A gal I know passed the interview at jazz and is now going to be doing a sim eval. wanted to know what do they look like these days ? She’s stressed out
Any info on it would be appreciated! ( seen other posts, just wanted to know if there is anything different ) or any tips
Thanks I’m advance

Re: Sim eval
Typically the DH3 Sim in YVR now. 2 candidates with one Jazz instructor/manager. Very similar script to how it's been previous years. It's all about the CRM and the ability to show that you're trainable.
Re: Sim eval
thank you so much!! and that script she only gets it on the day of right? not out in public?
Re: Sim eval
When is she booked for the Eval?
And if you don't mind. What's here experience level?

Re: Sim eval
Yes you get handed some notes and a little bit of time to study them pre sim eval while in the CAE building.
Its basically a standard IFR ride. Steep turns. Engine failure. ILS. Hold.

Re: Sim eval
It's not in public but it's not under lock and key either from what I've experienced. Typically there's some older ones floating around. Not much has changed since those other than the airport it's simulated out of and the fact that there's usually two hiring candidates doing it at a time now vs the old one candidate with a Jazz pilot as their PM and a training pilot in conducting the evaluation.

Re: Sim eval
Less than 1500 hrs. I just find it insane people stressing about jazz, when it is the worst regional airline pay wise and should be everyone’s plan c, d or z.
As well, I’m really surprised jazz has not dropped the sim eval requirement and just started accepting all applicants, considering a large number are planning their exit or already leaving.

Re: Sim eval
Yeah best to ignore that account. Not sure what the relevance of their negativity is here. The subject in this case is sim eval intel and not about working condition opinions at Jazz. Hopefully the rest of us were helpful in that regard.wing'd wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 5:16 amWow, just looked at your previous posts, and 90% are all anti-jazzcanadian_aviator_4 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 9:23 pm Less than 1500 hrs. Where I totally agree that jazz should be avoided like the plague because of its current state ( actually pretty shameful how far it has fallen ) it’s opening it’s doors and opportunity to those 600-700 hrs pilots stuck in shifty northern 703s or pilots who are instructing and barely making 500$/20hrs a month instructing ( now what does that low hour influx say about a company’s pilots base who are very low hoursgod knows.
Essentially, yes no one who has any decent time building and can see themselves make 1,000 hrs soon should consider Flair/Porter etc , but anyone stuck at making no hours or just in a shitty spot and can live ( live is a strong word) in jazz’s salary can use it as a stepping stone ( which I believe jazz is becoming now )
Again! Not promoting jazz ! But from my understanding of all my friends that are there, salary is really the only bad thing there , conditions seems decent

Regarding the sim eval, focus on crm and follow your training.wing'd wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 5:16 amWow, just looked at your previous posts, and 90% are all anti-jazzcanadian_aviator_4 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 9:23 pm Less than 1500 hrs. As well, I think you made a mistake. It’s closer to a %100 anti-jazz.

Re: Sim eval
They are currently inviting for mid June simulator evals. Two a week, and the choice you are presented with is either within a given week.

Re: Sim eval
For the sim eval, are you only PF/PM or do you switch with your sim partner halfway through the session? It’s only 1.5 hours long, so I assume you would stick to one role?

I’m surprised no one has come up with virtual sim evals yet.BTD wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 11:43 amThe post you quoted was from this past May.Me262 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 3:31 amJune??? Jazz is one of the only airlines that does them and it works well for screening out candidates that may struggle in training or otherwise become a CRM/HR nightmare. Kind of wish we were able to do SIM evals on pilots that came over from various mergers. Quite a few would not have cut it and it probably would have saved the training department a lot of work.
We get you have a hate on for Jazz, but SIM evils are not being looked as a cost savings measure.CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 12:11 pm Jazz management : Read above post. Found a new way to save you guys a dime.
