Re: PSAC beating Airline staff to the punch.
If a survey was conducted with the Canadian population and asked questions such as:
Since 2015, do you feel more patriotic as a Canadian?
The survey would say no.
Since 2015, do you feel your overall compensation at work has kept up with the cost of living?
Survey says no.
Since 2015, do you feel more divided as a Canadian.
Survey says yes.
Since 2015, do you feel Canada has strengthened the middle class?
Survey says no.
Since 2015, has the value of your healthcare declined, remained the same, or improved?
Survey says declined.
Since 2015, do you feel safer and that gun crime has been reduced in our urban centres?
Survey says no.
Do you see a trend? Is anyone surprised the calls for general strike? The sentiment in Canada is dog shit, and you can thank leadership from the top down. Rookiepilot, don’t you feel like saying “I told you so”?

Re: PSAC beating Airline staff to the punch.
It feels like the government has been shut down since they reverted to work from home anyway. That said 2% raises are a big pay decrease so they should get more than that.
Re: PSAC beating Airline staff to the punch.
Raise need not be based on inflation. It should be based on the value you provide.
Everyone who thinks they should get a 10 percent raise because inflation, is mistaken. Lots of over inflated not so valuable government jobs that don’t need pay hikes as they add no value and perform very little work to contribute.
Economy’s change and people must adapt. You can’t sit on your ass for 40 years and demand inflation raises if your job and your value is not inline with what the economy demands. Sorry to state the hard truths. You are entitled only to what value you give at a snapshot in time and your value my increase or decrease depending on the skills you choose to attain as the world changes.

You could take any 8 year period in Canadian history and get the same results.rando wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 7:18 pm If a survey was conducted with the Canadian population and asked questions such as:

One wonders how we even became a country at all?

Economic value doesn't mean much for administrative government jobs.rando wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 7:39 pm Raise need not be based on inflation. It should be based on the value you provide.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship
