PSAC fighting to save lives and protect others.
It’s sad that these days employees have to fight to work from home ..Their safety is important and we as a society should not comprise on safety of others.
This pandemic is far from over …

Re: PSAC fighting to save lives and protect others.
Terribly unsafe. Can you believe we made teachers go back to the classroom?
Unbelievable how reckless we have become to want people to show up to work and do their jobs.

You guys know that dope is still illegal for pilots, yeah? Quit rolling them 4 paper bombers boys…
Re: PSAC fighting to save lives and protect others.
Why don’t they just wear masks at the office to keep them safe? I would even support a weekly allotment of one n95 per federal employee to keep them all safe. Problem solved.
Re: PSAC fighting to save lives and protect others.
Whats sad is your Narrative. I got some news! Pandemic or not these people just don’t want to go back to the office FULL STOP. Why don’t you take a stroll in Ottawa on a Monday at Lunch time and ask yourself where have all the people gone? The Monster was created by the Government in charge and good luck changing that. No support from this fella they Never stood with our industry they just wanted us Shut down.GhostRider6 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 10:45 am It’s sad that these days employees have to fight to work from home ..Their safety is important and we as a society should not comprise on safety of others.

And I thought this was a pro-worker site?
If — when? — Airport ground staff strike and shut down airports, much lower paid than these PSAC workers, will you be behind them?
Cause strikes are just getting started……
Curious.

Re: PSAC fighting to save lives and protect others.
Ill get behind workers who want to work or who are striking cause they NEED to have their wages and working conditions improved.
To be honest I actually don't know why (most) of these workers are wanting to strike so my sarcasm was directed at a very small part of the workers who I know are overpaid and don't want to work. I should do some reading. I was told by employees of TC that most of their workers have been working from home for over two years and just recently were asked to start coming in two days a week and are not happy about it. Alot of these people makes 140k + have 6 weeks vacation and never worked very hard even before this nonsense.
I have little respect for that.
When I commented on the teachers who work 8 months a year and signed up to be around germ infested kids but were happy to throw our children under the bus, I stand by that comment, but don't get me started there.
I've been a union guy for 13 years. Im pro union in general, but can recognize when the pendulum swings too far.

Quote directly from the news.
WFH is all about lifestyle for 98% of people. They want to save money and time. They are trying to get some WAWCON increases JUST LIKE WE ALL WANT.PSAC wants to see those who can work from home continue to do so with protections in place, so management can't pick and choose who is in and out, and on what days. The union wants this rule in writing, and in its collective agreement.
A union rep says employees have adjusted to working remotely and it comes down to a quality of life issue.
Re: PSAC fighting to save lives and protect others.
My medical will still take years to process. My passport application will still just sit in a pile. If a federal worker strikes does it make a sound?
And before you tell me about unity. And tides rise all ships and whatever other bs catch phrase... Just look back at the unity the past few years when they had the chance, nonexistent.
Re: PSAC fighting to save lives and protect others.
Yup. Federal workers, especially liberals, cheered on the trampling of our rights and the government crackdown on the trucker protest and freezing of bank accounts. They cheered on the lockdowns. I know a few of them.rando wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 7:28 am Screenshot_20230422-102449~2.png
I was going to make a joke about freezing bank accounts as these Fringe minority disrupt our economy like the truckers... But it turns out they don't actually do any work anyways and no one can even notice that a strike is happening.

As you can tell, I support these government workers.
I would not support an airport ground workers strike at all. I would support the government legislating those employees back to work.
Here’s why:
- government workers are essential and provide a service that we cannot live without. Keeping our civil service “ well fed” moves our society and economy. How are those pilot medicals going ?
-government workers are highly educated.
-the entire global economy is changing. aviation is environmentally destructive and will be phased out, automated etc. Now, we are entering a digital / Information Age where these people’s/ their jobs will be obsolete. ( the pandemic proved this) People were happier not working, working from home or having their careers displaced by way of lockdowns. Many workers were underemployed but eventually got better jobs elsewhere.
-higher wages = higher disposable income - they are more capable of adding to the economy vs people slogging it out in the private sector ( making less)
I’m short, we need to keep our civil service happy ..aviation workers are disposable and can be displaced into more information based jobs. Limiting their pay and worsening their working conditions encourages this behavioral transition without Legislation. In the end, they’ll find better jobs. ( like many aviation sector workers did during lockdowns)

I see people here also spew bs like fire 20% to put a fire under everyone's ass. I've worked in places like that before, the most qualified people leave and now you have a bunch of people who are good but don't know the processes fully. The place becomes a dumpster fire and the people who are good leave on their own accord.

So did most of this site. Cause truckers are — beneath them.
Re: PSAC fighting to save lives and protect others.
When I made that particular reference to salary I was thinking about CASI's at TC. Turns out they are a different union and not on strike. So I was incorrect.
I do however know a CRA worker that makes 100k + unless she lied to me.
However, I stand by my claim that a lot of these workers are complaining because they have to GO TO WORK.
Same with teachers when they didn't want to go back to work in 2020 or 2021 for that matter.

What rights of yours were trampled on for pray tell?
Lockdowns actually had a positive impact on families and society. I know many families who enjoyed more time with their kids and got to enjoy a slower pace of life? Do you think that spending time with family is a bad thing?
The freedom convoy was an anti-Semitic, anti - indigenous, anti- trans, anti- vaccine ableist movement. The darkest and most selfish and evil elements of society were on full display in the convoy. In my opinion, FreeDUMBies got off easy. - Trudeau should have rolled the tanks.
The movement essentially was about defiance and not caring about your community and people feeling entitled to watch others perish by way of a lethal illness. Is your personal right to choose who lives and who dies ?

Obviously, there are many people who make over $100,000 but it’s likely a single digit percent!

Why not just lockdown forever if it's so positive
Is the inflation we have today positive for families? Is it helping them buy homes? Is it keeping food on the table? This inflation is a direct product of locking down the economy and printing money. So basically lockdown was an expensive forced vacation for everyone. Hope you all enjoyed it! Lol
I can't believe how out of touch people are. Lots of people struggled greatly though lockdowns and here we have someone trying to justify authoritarian government as a fucking health benefit. Of course you are just being sarcastic but this is the take of the federal workers! Lockdown forever!

What workers? I'm not talking about spokespeople/talking heads have gone out to say we should lock down forever? One of the few good things about the pandemic is we found out remote work, works just fine. Younger people finally had a chance to move to cheaper areas and afford to put down roots (buy a house etc) but everyone here is so jealousrando wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 3:21 pmGhostRider6 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 2:37 pm Lockdowns actually had a positive impact on families and society. My God we found one! I don't disagree with this. WFH is fine. But doesn't mean federal workers are entitled to it. If gov finds its more productive to bring people to an office that's how they will do it. If they want to get wfh they might have to give up negotiating capital for it.newlygrounded wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 3:31 pm What workers? Private business is split, some called back and some WFH. They have their checks and balances to make sure the job is getting done. Lots of private biz called people back because they found a huge disconnect when people wfh.
Re: PSAC fighting to save lives and protect others.
Maybe for some people it was positive. I think it had really bad effects on a lot of other people, like socialization of young children. I think it also had negative effects on adult mental health. Personally I really don’t ever want to do that again.GhostRider6 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 2:37 pm Lockdowns actually had a positive impact on families and society. Do you have a source for it being less productive? Nearly every study has positive outcomes. Anecdotally I find most companies (and likely the feds) brought people back in as they looked "foolish" spending millions a month on leases that weren't being used, or had large investment into REIT's which obviously do bad if people aren't forced to go inrando wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 3:41 pmI don't disagree with this. Misinformation, disinformation and general poppycock!
You must be one of those trucker Neanderthals.
Many people bought homes during the pandemic… real estate went nuts… people had more disposable income.
Lockdowns had zero negative impact on economics/ inflation. Inflation was due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
I am happy families got to have that home and become healthier and reconnect in many cases.
There is zero scientific data that indicates lockdowns severely/ negatively impacted society.
Also, people who were impacted by lockdowns did receive benefits and were compensated.
Lockdowns probably saved billions of people from dying until the vaccine campaign began.

If you arent just trolling and are serious, you are likely one of the most out of touch people on here.
Even Aviatard doesn't think lockdowns were good. Now if only we could convince him that people should be free to make their own medical choices and that masks (and more importantly, mask mandates) did virtually nothing but harm, then I'd say we are making some progress.

Nope! I’m proudly anti- anti-Vaxxer / Freedumbie mindless rabble.
A special place in hell is reserved for these types who prolonged the pandemic.
My great awakening during the pandemic came when I realized with total disgust that there’s individuals who don’t care about the lives of others and saving others from a lethal illness. I proudly still wear my KN95 in the grocery store, parks and other public venues.
I enjoyed lockdown and I believe it weeded out/ highlighted those who are mentally ill. The positive, upbeat and mentally grounded had no issues with lockdowns, masks and taking a little prick (that was medically sound )in the arm to save their community. I still continue to take my boosters as directed. - I haven’t had a heart attack. Nothing.
This, is in sharp contrast to the pricks who didn’t take the vaccine.
It’s also revolting that theirs is Neanderthals who choose not to trust our Honorable Prime Minister. (I’m a proud liberal supporter)
We do have something in common though. I do believe in the “great reset” and applaud our leaders and business community for taking action to improve society and solve climate change and the pandemic.
I do not hide my views nor beliefs ! No will I.
