Medical validity question

Post by Happydance »

CAR’s says “ medical certificates expire on the first day of the month. Validity periods are calculated from the first day of the month following the medical examination.” I fly single pilot so my cat 1 medical only good for 6 months. I did it March 10 th. Does it expire September 1st or October 1st. Thanks. Also there is a way to extend medical by 2 or 3 months by phone talking to licensing department. I can’t find the phone number or web site in CAR’s. Can someone help me with that. Thanks.

October 1st. Email your region. You might get a month or two with a good reason.

Good till the end of September.

Call up the CAME and ask for telemedicine, takes 12 minutes of your time and renews it without leaving the house. That’s considering you have had no major health changes. (Do this in September)

Actually I believe it's still valid on the 1st October, the day it expires.

Maybe. I’m not a CAME. I’m sure I could find an answer in the CARs, But if you’re splitting hairs regarding a 24 hour period regarding your pilot medical, then it’s generally far too late. The author of this post was asking whether it’s valid till september 1st or October 1st.

In my opinion: he needs to have a new medical done PRIOR to October 1st. It certainly isn’t september 1st.

The best advice I can say: is to contact your CAME, and ask when your medical is valid to.

Technically there is no need to renew your medical before it expires, just before you fly next after it expires.

Technically, a medical doesn’t expire. It validates a licence for a period of time following date of last examination.

That is why they requested a new one because the old one was no good. A lot of times it is defective and that's when you need help. I did it March 10 th. Does it expire September 1st or October 1st. Hello,
What are some examples of a good reason?
