What can we do to help?
As a pilot working for a different airline living in Calgary, what can I do?
Should I stop by with some donuts? How many?
And on a more serious note, if this does get uglier and the strike/lockout lasts longer than expected or planned for, is there a donation fund? Is there any other meaningful way we can help you guys?
What the westjet pilots are doing is a huge thing for all of us Canadian pilots, everyone I know in the industry is behind you 100%.

Good luck guys and girls. Everyone in the industry is behind you.
Same question - how can we support you?

Hasn't been said enough, but 100% rooting for you guys/gals, this will be a historic moment in Canadian aviation and I will also support whichever way I can
Re: What can we do to help?
Add me to the list as well! YYC based pilot looking to help any way I can.

Yes.
With some donuts?
Yes.
How many?
1600.

ALPA has a strike fund. Show your support by joining us, or if you are unable, continue to publicly show support the cause.
Re: What can we do to help?
One thing you can do is NOT pick up overtime if your company is adding extra flights to cover any Westjet flying.

Re: What can we do to help?
I also would like to help (YYZ base). I'll await instructions from our own ALPA MEC and see what guidance they have for us.
I imagine we can do a fair bet to help out, from bringing water/snacks at the airport to babysitting their kids if need be (and I mean that between friends, not just a random internet offer. Boy, the fact I felt the need to clarify that is messed up. Welcome to 2023, where everything can be interpreted as "offensive").
I would imagine the Westjet MEC will release some sort of statement to the rest of us as in how we can support our colleagues.

Re: What can we do to help?
Why not? Why shouldn't another airline and their overtime-hungry pilots captilize on WJ management's unwinlligness to offer a north American contract? Make hay while the sun shines.
As a WJ pilot thank you for the overwhelming support. The unity right now in this country is inspiring.
Re: What can we do to help?
Wouldn't another company encroaching on Westjet's territory be a good thing as it puts pressure on Westjet management to negotiate?
Honest question.
Honest question.
Re: What can we do to help?
Probably a better clarification is don’t pick up wet least flying but if your company is flying to fill in the gap for themselves then pick up all the OT you canCanadaflyer46 wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 3:18 pmWhy not? Re: What can we do to help?
Flair put out a pretty funny low blow ad...
"Dont strike out this long weekend"

Re: What can we do to help?
Well, let’s face it, a Westjet strike or even the threat of a Westjet strike is the best thing that could have ever happen to Flair.
Yes, they had 90% load factors last month, on $59 fares. Now, they’ll have 90% load factors on ten times that.
Re: What can we do to help?
If there are any WJers that live in the Ottawa area, and need some work, I can can give a few weeks of easy labour as long as you at least know what part of a hammer is the handle. PM me.
