Medical

Post by Front. »

Hello, i was wondering if weight is an issue for Air Canada's medical? I am around 230 lbs and 5'10"

My Blood Pressure is 110 over 70
My Cholestrole is fine
I have no diabetes
and i get a HB of around 85

Then again my 230 lbs consists of around 150 lbs of leand and 80 lbs of fat

But i mean i've seen so many people unfit that smoke and have a AC uniform on. What's the main difference between Air Canada's medical and Transport Canada's Class 1?

Whats the "psych" test? what does it involve?

Thanks ! 8)

That BP sounds quite low for someone of your size? I'm not aware of any size restrictions, maybe they'll make you do a stress test or something.

The medical dept. will use sort of a point system when looking at cardiovascular fitness. If your abdominal girth is more than 98 cm it's a point, also they look at your blood pressure, and then the blood work (good and bad cholesterol). If enough of these things are suspect then they will request that you do a Stress Test. Also called a Maximum Bruce Protocol Exercise Stress Test. Basically running on a tread mill until you reach 80% of your max heart rate. If your just a big guy, not too "fat" then it's not that worrisome. Good Luck.

Psych Test...Nothing you can do to prepare. Three different assesments, basically the same, one long, two shorter. All multiple choice answers to some pretty weird questions.

Best advice is to be "completely honest" in your answers, don't answer what you think they would want to see. If you ever wanted to hurt your boss... say yes! If you have at any point thought your body was possesed by demons... say yes.

All in all, not very stressfull, only took about an hour and a half, just have fun.
