It's terrible, I hope they burn in hell. 50k for living in Vancouver + 31k training bond, jeez.

Big yikes on the bond. Is that for the Saab or the 1900?

How long do you have to stay for the bond?

Most stay 60 seconds to let it sink in.

30k CAD is about right. If fact its on the low side at FSI.

Fancy bizz jet types run 80-100k USD.

If they do the time on the airplane I would imagine its still close to that.

The salary is the same joke as most entry level carriers.

So right seat on the Saab pays the same as first year right seat of AC777? Not bad!

Ouch, you hope they burn in hell for a standard 1 year bond and what is a pretty competitive wage? I'm no fan of bonds or low pay for any of us, but you sound a little hurt there... Jazz FO's making 10k less over at the main terminal. I wonder what CMA pays on the Dash?

Anyone know how many hours you can expect to log on the 1900 and Saab there, post the new duty regs?

Bonds are just unethical I say. Value your pilots and they will definitely stay.

About 750/yr on the 1900 and 200-300/yr on the SAAB

With the lure of AC over the last few years, PASCO could have paid Saab Captains $150K, and people still would have left. Further, with the price of real estate in YVR, I’d imagine that people are going to keep cycling through…

Could anyone provide insights on what sort of pairings are available at PASCO based out of YVR? Are overnights common?

I'm also curious what the pairings are like.

i don't support bonds but no, they are not unethical.

it's business. so negotiate.

if you don't know how, learn.

The potentially unethical part is in the bait and switch. The conditions of the bond are written clearly in a contract (usually), but the description of the actual job circumstances is often lacking, and/or misrepresented. The low time pilot often has no leverage in getting those terms clearly defined. Often, once you find out about the ugly stuff, it's too late.

In theory, a well balanced bond agreement isn't unethical. The practical application often is.

Instead of bonds making it attractive or taking care of employees will make them stay longer. I've been in a situation where even on bond I was counting my days to just leave. Not because of better job opportunities but to run away from toxicity in work culture.

Business practices are driven by supply and demand. They aren't governed by employee emotions.

If you signed a bond, that's on YOU. Learn to negotiate better.

Like I said, it's just business.

Can anyone confirm if this company is actually guilty of the gaslighting and dishonest practices described here?

My reply was to the above poster about bonds in general, how they are abused by some companies. While I have experienced that a couple of times, I have never worked for Pacific Coastal, and I was/am not accusing Pacific Coastal of said practices.

I had an interview with these guys . I have to say I wasn't super thrilled

The $31,000 training bond for a 50 K job isn't exactly a moral boaster .

They went on about their YYC based routes ... Calgary - Lethbridge , Calgary - Medicine Hat , Cranbrook .... wow

Then asked some easy IFR questions that I think a private pilot could answer .

Not for me . No thanks .
