So was it worth it?

Post by Donald »

For the guys who left their 60-90K/year jobs to head over to Jazz, was it worth it? Regrets? Still too early to tell?

Lifestyle is key, but a better paycheck would be nice.

I think any new hire (myself included) is still in the honeymoon stage, so were kinda biased.

In the end, it depends whats important to you, and where you see yourself down the road.

If you want the "lifestyle" 40 grand a year buys...

Kinda like collecting EI isn't it? Sitting at home on reserve with no money??

Wingtip,

Do you work at Jazz or are you just shooting off your mouth?

Other jobs are for $$$$ on the side for my toys, I wouldn't call them REAL jobs. I just sit around on my fat ass and money comes in. No need to be jealous buddy. You're too old for that.

Retired AC mainline. Why? He can't have an opinion if he doesn't work at Jazz?

Grow up Santi!

Thanks Gazu, but I don't need to justify my opinion to this guy.

Of course wingtip can have an opinion. But, the question was directed at people who have accepted a position at Jazz, not what a person's opinion of the starting salary was at that company.

Mainline? Great, good for you.
Loaded? Good for you, too. I really couldn't care less how much you make. But, if you want to take potshots at myself or my mates who have accepted a position there then, yeah maybe you do need to justify yourself a little bit.

Grow up? I'm like rubber, you're like glue....

Whatever....this is a waste of time.

To answer the original question - it's a good job. No regrets, except wasting five minutes of my life with this tripe. Later....

It's unfortunate that this topic generated so few substantial replies. I have numerous friends that had the "Jazz debate" and the original question is one I have heard often. The question is subjective based on ones personal experience but I will offer it from someone who made the decision to go.

I will try and keep my ramblings about how great my job is to a minimum. Jazz is a well organized and fun place to work. There is a huge list of benifits that I did not have at my previous job. A union, organized training, excellent benifits and a pension plan all make the transition an easy one.

Money has been mentioned several times in this tread. The starting salary is low and I'm not going to deny or defend it. However, that being said it does get better over time. For those of us who left the charter world making 50 or 60K a year we will, over time get back to those salaries.

Are there better jobs out there - probably. Are there worse jobs out there - most definitly. Just my opinion.
