Does NAV choose for you, do you get a choice in the matter of where you go?
And how many years typically until you are able to bid for a new location?

You end up going where they have operational need. It's three years before you can bid on to a new posting.

Some courses are given some say, they may ask for your preferences but generally you go where they tell you to/where they need you. You can bid/request transfer to a new location after 3 years or 2 years at a remote posting.

IFR typically has a lower success rate than VFR, but your training and eventual job takes place at one of the 7 centres across the country. VFR has a higher success rate, but you will more than likely be sent to a smaller tower to start. Personal preferences may be considered, but the priority is to send people where staffing is needed, and where you have the best chance to be successful in training.

You can bid to another unit once you have been licensed for 2 years. Getting to where you want to go depends on many factors. Some locations are easy to get to, some are very hard to get to due to popularity. Some locations also take a long time to get released from due to staffing limitations.

Does anyone know if YOW would be an easy place to get into currently? I just got an email for a follow-up assessment but not sure if that's possible.

I know the name of the game with relocation but I'm just clinging to hope.
