I can't login to avcanada from my home computer but can log in on any other PC. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to rectify the problem? I'm not having any similar problems logging into email, banking etc.

Check your computer's security settings, specifically session cookies. Make sure that your computer is set to allow session cookies and thay may help.

From Internet Explorer 6:

Tools --> Internet Options --> Privacy Tab
1. Move the slider all the way down so it will "Accept All Cookies"
2. Click "Advanced"
3. Check the box "Override Automatic Cookie Handling"
4. First Party Cookies: Accept
5. Third Party Cookies: Your preference (See bottom)
6. Make sure the Always Allow Session Cookies box IS checked

Hopefully that will work. Cookies pose no security threat to your computer other than allowing a specific website to track your activity on that particular site. AvCanada would need cookies to "remember" who you are while on the site. That's called a first party cookie. Either way, no virus or spyware threat exist in a cookie.

A third party cookie is a cookie that a separate (3rd party!) website can place on your computer - usually an advertiser like mediaclick, 247realmedia or 2o7 (common ones) - that is used to remember what you look at on the internet so they can "profile" you and target you with advertising. No big threat to security other than being "snooped on". 3rd party cookies are NOT REQUIRED to browse a website, where a first party cookie, such as on AvCanada, likely IS REQUIRED.
