Log Books...

Post by Invertago »

Just wondering who out there uses electronic log books, do you use online logs, or did you buy some software, any particular recomendations as to what program is best?

when sending in your logbooks to TC for the ATPL, if it's electronic (spreedsheet etc) do you have to get the entries validated or signed by a CP or OPS Manager? It would be stupid but on the ATPL thread someone mentionned getting hours signed off or validated.

thanks

No, you don't... although if there are some questions regarding the entries, you should be prepared to provide additional documentation.

Thanks for the clarification TC Guy, much appreciated. However, what exactly do you mean by additional documentation? Could that be a photocopy of a page of the aircraft's logbook? a payslip? thanks!

Yes, possibly if there are some questions regarding a particular flight or flights.

Other documentation might be the PCC sheet, etc. :)

It all depends on what you submit, how clear it is (as in, do the entries make sense, are they complete?). Also, if you are using PIC under supervision, we will require your companie's approved documentation to support the claim.

Every application is unique, because there are so many ways to meet the ATPL requirements.

in my situation, I have flown alot of single pilot aircraft overseas in a few different countries.
All PIC, all VFR no PPC's.
Shoud I provide company contact numbers in addition to the electronic logbook that I plan on submitting to make the process go quicker? Would that be of interest to the TC employee handling my file?

Honestly, the more information the better. I would have to see the logs to actually tell you what additional information I would require, if any. When you submit the logs, ask to talk to an Inspector, and see if they think they would need anything else (for the record, most/all the ATPL licencing is done at a regional headquarters, usually by an Inspector, not a licencing officer).

Good luck, and I am sure it should go smoothly. :)
