Pairings at Porter
Just wanted to ask what the distribution of pairings looks like Porter. I’ve heard there are single day pairings available, and am wondering if these go fairly senior? I’m trying to get an understanding of how many nights would typically be spent away from base for an F/O who bids as many single day pairings as possible, and of course how long it would take to gain enough seniority to hold a line of majority single day pairings if it is even possible. Does it differ at the various bases for the Q400?
Re: Pairings at Porter
YTZ and YHZ have the most single day pairings in November. Odds are you’ll need a decent amount of to hold all single days.J_Roy_02 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 9:05 pm Just wanted to ask what the distribution of pairings looks like Porter. How about single day pairings for the E2? Will there be more available in the future?

Pairing breakdown for Nov on the E2:aboveclouds wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 11:16 am How about single day pairings for the E2? Will there be more available in the future?
1 day : 66
2 day : 42
3 day : 50
4 day : 135
5 day : 55
I assume all numbers of pairing types will increase as the operation grows.
Re: Pairings at Porter
To be fair, single days are taken for training. So with Seniority you will still get multi day pairing.CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 12:01 pmPairing breakdown for Nov on the E2:aboveclouds wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 11:16 am How about single day pairings for the E2? I.e, 56% of single days in Sept were taken for training meaning senior folks could not get all single days.
This will hopefully not be an issue going forward, but just don’t expect one thing.
Re: Pairings at Porter
Can anyone add what the paring breakdown is for the D8? (amount of 1 day paring vs 2 day vs 3 day, etc.)?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Can someone please give an example of what a multiday pairing looks like on the jet? How many legs on average per day, layover duration and locations, hours flown per day. Thank you

Re: Pairings at Porter
It's pretty typical stuff. Usually either 2 longer legs or 4 shorter legs. Layovers are usually 15 ish hours unless it's Florida in which case you're lucky if you get 12 hours. Anywhere from 4-8 credits per day roughly.flyingpilot wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 7:08 am Can someone please give an example of what a multiday pairing looks like on the jet? The pairings really run the gamut from super relaxed and easy to a fucking shit show. A lot of work still needs to be done for sure.

Does the jet have layovers in all the destinations it goes to or are there some places that’s just a turn? Also are there any commuting benefits? Thank you.

Re: Pairings at Porter
There are layovers at most destinations but some are also turns. If you are commuting pilot you get RPJ from day 1. Passes for your family at 3 months. Interline at 6 months.flyingpilot wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 4:28 pm Does the jet have layovers in all the destinations it goes to or are there some places that’s just a turn? Lots of airlines on the list, too many to name individually

Re: Pairings at Porter
What is RPJ? Does Porter have any sort of commuting policy? Maybe I'm mistaken but I thought they provided POS space commuting passes at one point in the past.CaptDukeNukem wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 1:31 amThere are layovers at most destinations but some are also turns. You get access to other airlines In order to commute.
Commuting policy is simple. Live somewhere porter flies and make a reasonable effort to get to work. If you can’t make it, your MMG will be reduced. Basically, get to work, if you can’t, it’s cool, but you won’t get those credits
I don’t think POS space commuting was a thing. Possibly on the dash operation.

The commuting policy used to be list 2 flights before and they would either POS you or remove you but it was only available for certain city pairings. Rather than expand the city pairings they got rid of the protections.

Re: Pairings at Porter
Is it commuting on the jets an issue in terms of getting a seat? Any talks in regards to improving their commuting policy given the number of commuters? How are the western and eastern loads on the jets? Thank you.
Re: Pairings at Porter
It's 11 months after line check right now to hold a schedule on the Q. All 2hr reserve callout before that. Those who just got a schedule are getting all single days and splits (short overnights).J_Roy_02 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 9:05 pm Just wanted to ask what the distribution of pairings looks like Porter.
