Another Sad day in Aviation

Post by shamus »

I was just informed of the unfortunate accident resulting in the death of Rick Wynott. My condolences to Brenda and the children, family and friends. Rick was a huge part of the Brampton Flying Club and contributed much to Aviation Training in this country.

He will be missed by many......

Again, my condolences as aviation loses another.

Brampton, like Moncton, and any of the colleges, can seem like a very small part of the aviation community when you are there. I knew Rick when he taught his last ground school prior to becoming CFI. At the time he had to have had 10000 hours of instructing, 30 years ago.

His students are to be found amongst the check and training captains of Air Canada, WestJet, Cathay, and many other airlines around the world.

While I choose the bush as my segment of aviation, I was never left with that distaste for instructing that seemed so prevalent in bush hiring. In very large measure, it was due to the diplomacy and skill or Rick.

ATAC website says his death was the result of a scuba diving related accident.

There are very few people willing to dedicate their careers to flight training in this industry and Rick Wynott was one of the few special people who did. Rick also realized that flight training is a business, a student was actually a client, and thusly he championed professionalism each day he arrived to work. The Brampton Flying Club owes much thanks to Rick for its success.

Rick will always be remembered for coming to work ready to 'put out the fires' and 'make it happen'...

Thanks Rick!
