Any AT flyers out there that can shed some light on the current lifestyle and pay at Air Transat?
Is there any desire to get on with AC or are most happy where they are?

I fly for the company and the pay, per diem and general conditions are all good! Salary wise, we are very competitive starting at 64000$ per year. If you want to fly a heavy on a transoceanic operation, transat is the best place to be in Canada! Cheers! P.S. I don`t think that any of my collegues are even considering going to AC, thanks to our great conditions!

air transat pays more than air canada... I know that

and afterall... if you like an airline and see your self working for it, then you apply for it, if you don't... then you won't. And there are more options other than Air Canada. Period

Hey Majorkong, does AT only hire people who are fluent in French and English?

You can check on http://www.pilotcareercenter.com about the requirements, they are pretty accurate. Most of the people hired lately met these requirements. Good luck!

Fun flying, great equipment, nice layovers, hope you like the UK while you are junior though. You might see Nice or Paris on a line check. Pay is great, if you are working, which brings me to my next paragraph.

Enjoy the sporadic layoffs. They like to lay people off for a couple months at a time during the shoulder season. If you decide to go, put some of that great pay away, you'll need it.

and the girls are fun to party with!!

Just got the call from AT for the A330 in YYZ. As far as the French is concerned, I think it is a must, the whole interview was in French with real Quebecois. However, I have read somewhere on this site that they will pay for a Berlitz course to bring up to speed if your quals. warrant your selection.

I can't believe that being bilingual finally paid off.

A330 YYZ? I'm kind of curious as how you got that since the 330 is the senior plane at AT!

Apparently not so anymore.

At the interview they told me that they didn't have enough A330 FO's since those on the 310 remained on it to wait for the upgrade (to command). So they had to hire some 330 FO's off the the street.

Those hired in the 330 start in October, those in the 310, next Spring.

Transat is a great company. The people there are great. I have made some life long friendships there.

Before you think you would be a good fit for the company and visa versa...be prepared to tell your wife/husband you'll be gone for 20 days out of the month. Working 85 flight hours a month AND permanently jet lagged because most of TS work is international. You'll be @ bottom of the pole in seniority that means winter time red-eyes and summer time going to the UK where it's wet and cold and very expensive to shove food into your mouth. There may be low period seasonal lay-offs...maybe.

Other than that...I recommend TS over any other company in Canada. It's simply the best, as is the Province of Quebec.

For those that snub their nose about the French language thing...or are complaining about their policy of being pro-french (NOT anti-English) why not improve yourself and take up another language...instead of being a lump of jello sitting in the left seat at your present job you hate?
