Just wondering if you've ever flown with a flight instructor who hated your guts? Maybe with another pilot where you work or have worked?

I had a student I couldn't stand. Sent her to another instructor. They got married! Go figure.

Had a co-pilot who'd cross himself after our successfull arrival each time. I simply assured him that being an aetheist, God had nothing to do with it - he could just say "Thank you..."

yep.. happened to me at penair in the early 80's. the instructor(an older guy long since gone) was just fu^%in miserable. i just told him straight up that i'm paying way too much to be yelled at and that i would be training with someone else. his mouth just dropped open and he walked away. i did my commercial and instructor rating with another dude there and had a ball(still some of my fondest flying memories) when you are are paying, as george costanza says "you've got hand!". not the other way around.....

I hated a student of mine for something she did.
On one of her first solo flights she flew through some smoke from a guy burning some leaves in his yard. She smells smoke, declares an emergency on the radio, tower clears the airspace for the impending disaster. I 'm standing there with my hand held radio, CRAPING my pants!! I'm picturing her burning at the controls. She makes a lazy right hand circut, directly over where I'm standing (still craping),and lands safely. Taxis off and then tells ground that there was no fire, and that she only did it because she forgot what she was doing and wanted to land.

WHAT!!! I'm going to kill her!

Anyway, the number of grey hairs on my head can be linked directly to her.

I hated one student because he stunk so much...every day he would stink up the plane. I could even smell him on flights later that day. Eventually passed him on to another instructor who also hated him.

Well, I enjoyed working with everyone I trained in the past. It was an honor and privilege working with so many young professionals.

I remember one instructor that would just sit there and shake his head at everything I would do. I guess that must have helped me, I tried to perfect everything so that he would stop shaking his head. Then come flight test time I passed with ease. I have since got another instructor though for the Multi/IFR. I think there is a time when some people should get out of instructing if it is making them miserable, although I could only imagine some of the horror stories about students.

To answer the question: I sure as sh+t hope not.

But I just had to say: Otter - that is an awsome story. Had a great laugh with that one!!

was it bad breath?...maybe I got that student...I once had a student...GREAT guy...& quick learner...BUT his breath...oh man..I've never smelt anything so bad...his teeth were white...but I use to keep the window open untill just B4 we took off & then the vents point'd strait at my face so I could breath outside air...
