Austin Airways 1963-1965 Moosenee

Post by Clipper47 »

I worked for the HBC at Fort Albany in 1963-64 and my first ride in an aircraft was from Moose Factory in a Norseman with pilot Willard Meister . I left the HBC to attend the Ontario Forest Ranger School and on the 3 month summer break I found a job with Austin Airways at Moosenee as a "helper" on the Canso's CF-JCV and CF-NJC. It's not likely many of the pilots and engineers are around anymore since that was almost 60 years ago. I just wonder if any of the Austin gang from that time are on this forum. I recently read that Willard Meister passed away last year at age 94 so most of us are 80+ as am I. Does anyone remember Jim Bell, A. J. Humphrey, Lindy Louttit, Jim Sheldon?, Bill Gwynne, Tugwell, Bill Manderstrom, Dave Russell. I wish I could recall others. It was an exciting summer!
