If I've learned anything about Canadian aviation, it's that you should get used to disappointment.TFTMB heavy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 10:56 amI wouldn't hold my breath on that happening that soon.

There is a PICUS program. This from the FCTM…

Re: Training bond removed
It's not in use and I don't see them being able to do it at volume. Trainers are all pretty busy.
Re: Training bond removed
That said, we can see this be implemented for the cadets that will be coming. Similarly to Jazz that has PICUS, it'll likely be hard to get it done as the trainers will be busy with line indoc. However, with AC slowing down on hiring next year as they reach their 6000 pilots, the shortage will be alleviated and ATPL candidates will be easier to find than today IMO.TFTMB heavy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 3:21 pm It's not in use and I don't see them being able to do it at volume. For those considering. The plan here is still for over 50 aircraft, I would guess 60 or so, so there is still growth to come. Contract negotiations next year, so we will see improvements there. I would hazard a guess between WS and AC in compensation. Lifestyle is much better here IMO, and I will say again, crews here are awesome, flying is mostly great, and a great culture, so much so, when AC wanted to buy us, they wanted to keep the culture we have going on here. That says something!
As an career destination, it's a great choice to choose Air Transat. Air Canada and Westjet offer their particular career offerings and benefits, and each should choose the company that would work best for them, can't go wrong for either. We are all ALPA, and we are all now working together! Many are happy here, and Air Transat has been around for over 30 years, and will continue for 30 and more years to come.

Re: Training bond removed
I agree that it will be needed but I can't see it being meaningful unless they have more trainers or line guys with a right seat qualification to do PICUS. Our biggest hurdle for upgrades soon will be total time, not necessarily PIC time.330heavy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 4:45 pmThat said, we can see this be implemented for the cadets that will be coming. I don't think they have gone under 4000. Was at 5000 for a while.
Re: Training bond removed
Per curiosity is there a reason that some companies have minimums to upgrade vs Air Canada where it's just a bid ?TFTMB heavy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 7:17 pmI don't think they have gone under 4000. Was at 5000 for a while.

Re: Training bond removed
Surely many different reasons but at TS everyone pretty flies everywhere on the network. I doubt there are 2000 hour wide body captains at AC? Our expansion has not been significant enough to have to drop the minimums that low but It's on it's down unless they can get more experienced people to apply. We're even loosing pilots that are upgradable, that's a bigger problem in my opinion.arthurt wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 6:28 pmPer curiosity is there a reason that some companies have minimums to upgrade vs Air Canada where it's just a bid ?TFTMB heavy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 7:17 pmI don't think they have gone under 4000. Re: Training bond removed
I suppose it's around 2017-18 for current upgrades but that's including a 2 year covid layoff. Actual YOS is 4-5.
However anyone hired now will be 3-4, possibly less.

Is Transat due for a pay bump in the next while?
