Flight Test Recommendations

Post by pilotjack »

I have a student that came to me from another flight school who had partialed his flight test and then failed his partial (this was at another flight school). I did some training with him to get him back up to standards and I re-recommened him and he passed on his first attempt here. Does this count as a recommendation or not?

the test is considered a retest for them and won't count towards your performance to get a renewal

I assume you're a class 4 instructor and have done 5 of the last 10 hours. If so, yes it counts.

Since failing the partial resulted in the requirement for a full flight test your recommendation counts as a first time pass, subject to the hours requirement referenced by Bede. I assuming the OP is a Class 4 looking to upgrade

CAR 421.70 (4) (ii)

(ii) recommending no fewer than 3 students for their flight test for issue of a permit or licence, all of whom demonstrated the required standard of skill and knowledge;

Since you were the the one who recommended the student who "whom demonstrated the required standard of skill and knowledge" by passing on the first attempt, it counts towards your total of successful flight tests

Hmmm, late Sunday night musing......what did your CFI say that prompted you to ask this question on an anonymous internet forum?
