Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
Instead of paying a decent wage, let's just bring in foreign pilots...

Good luck too! Most (all?) foreign DH8 rated captains are already making more than that job ad is offering. Only Canada would consider that pay acceptable.

Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
I'm willing to bet half my salary, that Canada is the one of the worst countries in the world when it comes to pilot salaries / cost of living ratio. When a captain can't afford a 2 bedroom condo near his home base, something's wrong. (And spending 50% of your take home pay on a home is NOT affordable)
Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
Makes me wonder what they'll try next when they realize nobody applies internationally either.
Surely they won't have to increase salaries??

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
That is who I immediately thought of. Them or Pivot as they got a few DH8 now and who the heck wants to work there.
Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
At today’s exchange, 87,000 is just under 118,000. Not sure if either of those mentioned pay that to start.

I did some exploring on that site for fun. Found two European comparable jobs.
ATR42/72 Captain €105,000/yr (153,000CAD)
Q400 Captain €8,328.27/month (145, 700CAD/yr)

First year Captain at PAL now is 111.18 with a 78hr/month min credit.
A shot from 118k but with some HR magic maybe that's how they are selling it.
"Our client is one of the main private airlines in Canada, whose mission is to connect communities located in the beautiful landscapes of the country. It offers scheduled, charter and cargo services."
Betting its PAL

There's the list of all Captain jobs on that site.
Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
It is not PAL, and our skippers are making more than what is advertised on that above mentioned site.

Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
The ad says "up to 120,000 CAD". Pretty vague
Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
Could it be Pivot?
Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
Well if anyone applies and hears back let us know. Could be PAL…… Their Eastern Bloc comrades EVAS was doing this a few years ago.
DEI = Didn’t Earn It
Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
My bet would indeed be PAL

Could it be CMA, out west? Buddy of mine, with a decent amount of dash time was approached to fly there, but declined due to lack of pay…

I see some you are ignorant of conditions in other parts of the World.
There are Pilots flying Q400 in Nigeria, India and Angola to give 3 examples.
I've spent time in all 3 countries - in 2 of them crews weren't allowed out of the hotel!
Pilots in these countries will jump at this opportunity imho.

Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find in this business
Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
I think you missed the point... I'm pretty sure no one here is implying that those in less fortunate situations, shouldn't be given a chance at a better opportunity, but to automatically be given a work permit, and license recognition, just to undercut those at home who would be willing to do the job, just for a little bit more money, is not the way to go about itEric Janson wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 3:39 pm I see some you are ignorant of conditions in other parts of the World.

Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
To be fair, you can make that argument for almost every company hiring temporary/permanent foreign workers/immigrants.twa22 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 4:41 pmI think you missed the point... I know, but that's a discussion that would digress far off topicdigits_ wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 6:25 pmTo be fair, you can make that argument for almost every company hiring temporary/permanent foreign workers/immigrants.twa22 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 4:41 pmI think you missed the point... Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
Oh there'll be applications my friend. It'll come from a very specific region in the world. Logbooks will likely be whipped, companies with fake type ratings will be listed on the resume, and this company will likely puppymill and validate their documentation so it's harder to figure out who's who - if they don't pile one in first.
It is soo soo bad right now with forgery and fraud in this industry - mostly from international applicants - because crews who have done the bulk of their flying here can be tracked - and there is usually a reputation trail you can follow up - with or without references.
