Looking back

Thumbing through a few old photo albums other day, few fond memories for sure, like this old beast. Not a lot of us around now with operational time on a WW2 era flying boat but that was 45yrs ago for me.

Is that the picture from the final flight for that bird? I believe I saw this one recently and the caption said it was in the harbour in St. Anthony after it was flown there to he put on display. Love the peas and carrots.

Correct, it is on display in YAY well after my time. Flown in I believe by a well know pilot from that community who had quite an amount of experience on tanker operations and I do believe the display is named after him - sadly he passed last year. It has been 45 yrs since I was involved but have vivid memories of the many faces and names.
