Go to Flair! Don’t need you at JazzPWJ58 wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 8:29 am I know this may seem silly at face value but I’m currently at 1200TT, I have interviews for Both and I’m really stuck between the two…. Flair is much better pay, 737 type and a shot at AC after a year or two however the extemely big worry I have is most people saying it won’t last the year… jazz on the other hand is not going anywhere anytime soon that’s pretty much it for the Pros of jazz. lol.
Anyone have their two cents on this? I would do flair in a heartbeat but I don’t want be jobless in October with a pool of 400 other more experienced 37 pilots trying to find work desperately.

^ Your comment is a wee bit blunt and borderline if not (absolutely!) unprofessional assuming you’re employed at Jazz. If you are a training Captain by any chance, that last comment of yours ought to give your head a serious shake. REALLY DUDE?!?cdnavater wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 12:29 amGo to Flair! Are you speaking on the company’s behalf?
Sure hope not because with that mindset I sure wouldn’t want to be paired with you hombre.

Listen, if a guy/gal/they wants to make comments like, the only pro about Jazz is job security, than a guy(myself) can suggest he go elsewhere because we don’t need a shitty attitude before they even get on property.TeePeeCreeper wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 1:33 am^ Your comment is a wee bit blunt and borderline if not (absolutely!) unprofessional assuming you’re employed at Jazz. We had guys like duke who came to Jazz with a shitty attitude and thankfully most of them have moved on, they seem much happier and our company moral has seen improvement.
I’m speaking on my behalf, a shitty attitude is a cancer in any corporation and hopefully the hiring committee can weed that out, so far every new pilot I’ve encountered has been great, not one of them has said the only thing they like is it’s not going anywhere.
Btw, you would love be paired with me, I’m very very happy and love my job!

Hopefully you didn't dislocate a shoulder with that huge self pat on the back there... If I had the option, I would choose FLAIR (I F%*King hate Flair as well by the way, read previous posts) purely for the 37 ticket and pay. Being 1200 hours, you most likely have student debt which you can pay off and as you said the market is much more favorable for later in your career.
Jazz is kinda stable but always at the perile of AC. Pay sucks as deductions are crazy and going into YTS or YSB day in day out is definitely not appealing.
Re: Jazz or Flair?
Not true anymore, since the MOA, the deductions for benefits have been drastically reduced to the point where they are similar, if not less then most other 705s, and the package is very, very good, likely one of the best there is, at least from what I've seenflyinhigh wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 4:53 amPWJ58 wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 8:29 am I know this may seem silly at face value but I’m currently at 1200TT, I have interviews for Both and I’m really stuck between the two…. Re: Jazz or Flair?
I can't believe anyone is discussing Flair as a choice. You'll get a few months to a year (or whenever the investers finally pull out) and you'll be on the jub hunt with hundreds of other pilots who didn't see the writing on the wall. Go to Jazz. Yes they suck, but it'll get you on at WJ. Or apply to Encore if AC is your end goal. Best of luck.
Re: Jazz or Flair?
As it stands, your query is all hypothetical. You will take the first offer you get. You might not even get an offer from either one, have you considered that at all?

Re: Jazz or Flair?
Do the interviews for both airlines to gain experience with HR behavioral Interviews. Throughout the remainder of your career you will have to learn the STAR technique and answering situational scenarios for future carriers. During this interview remember its as much your responsibility to show up with some respectful but direct questions that you need to have answered. Don't discount your TT here during this process. We have hired several pilots at 1600TT with the market conditions. Be humble, admit to making mistakes - and how you've learned from them. Attitude is everything as we progress in our careers. Even as a training pilot myself its okay to say "I don't know!" But you better believe I'm going to do my best to ask the right people to ensure the correct information is circulated.
Once you have the offers its a personal choice that you'll have to make, make a list and weigh the pro's and con's. I would weight the uncertainty of a ULCC airline remaining viable in the market long term equally with its starting pay. Personally I would choose Jazz as they are a capacity purchase agreement (fee for departure) airline that are well established and a great place for a younger pilot to gain valuable experience. Don't worry about the 37 rating as that is never a sole matrix make or breaker with other carriers. The last ground school I taught at WJ had 1 typed pilot from another carrier.
