Will WJ pilots pick up overtime and Encore routes during an Encore strike?
Or will WJ pilots support Encore pilots?
Any gains for encore pilots will benefit future WJ negotiations.
Why cut your own future gains by flying the encore routes?

Because they're contractually and legally required to report to work and perform duties that fall within the scope of the CBA. If the company assigns a trip, the pilots can't refuse just because it used to be operated by Encore.

I cant see mainline doing a whole lot. They are not going to send a 737 to - say....Terrace.
Now Westjet Link (Pasco).........might be a different story

"What does the bill do? The bill has two main components. The first makes it illegal for employers in federally regulated industries to bring in replacement workers to continue operations previously executed by unionized employees during a legal strike or lockout".

You should do some more research, the bill has not yet reached royal assent and there is a clause that it comes into effect 18 months after royal assent.
Even if it were in effect, WJ is not “bringing in” replacement workers, they are just redeploying aircraft with workers already on property.

The title of this thread is "pick up overtime". So far all that's been discussed is assigned pairings that aren't voluntary.

WTF dude? We've all been wearing the same green lanyards as the Encore pilots. I was in sim yesterday and even the trainer had one on.
First, who says there's going to be a strike? It's not even on the horizon. There's going to be an evaluation of the failure, a re-negotiation, and then, maybe, another strike vote.
Second, will I pick up OT - nope. However, if the company assigns me a route that was previously flown by Encore, I have the legal obligation to report for duty.

I'm sure our fleet is utilized to its capacity right now with some eastern flying coming back this summer and more service announced out of several bases to the states. As mentioned above the routes solely operated by Encore that do not have WJ jet service could not be filled by WJ pilots. Those routes would most likely be filled with other smaller operators on wet lease agreements. Nobody wants to step on the Encore pilots, in reality most of us wish it was just 1 AOC, encore was called WestJet, we operated several types, could plan for future medium jet types, provide clarity on a career path, and forget about the PTA. However I just drive the ship, I don't design it.
Just know that we hear you and we want what you do!

The only places Encore goes that aren't current or past WJ routes are Terrace, Portland, Penticton and Fort St. John.
As all Encore seats are sold through Westjet, I'm not sure if the doesn't have jet service statement would be true.
Agree the 1 AOC would have been the preferable solution.

Why not? Get rid of Calgary direct. Change YVR from two daily flights to one. People will choose Jazz because of the convenience but once those fill up they won’t have a choice.

If the Encore pilots accepted the TA, would their still be a second strike vote
There's one strike vote & it's 97% favour

Am I missing something…
Why would a Westjet pilot cross a Encore pilot picket line?? You must be joking, they are the same airline and they would not SCAB their own fellow ALPA pilots…
This to me is unthinkable and ludicrous a suggestion far beyond reasonability!!

Yes, you are missing something!
They are separate companies and are not in a strike position with a recently amended contract, the same as if WJ pilots were on strike last year, the Encore pilots would have to show up for work.
The “crossing” of the picket line is referring to actual walking into the airport for a shift where Encore pilots will have set up their picket line.
If a WJ pilot doesn’t go to work on the basis of supporting Encore pilots, they would be subject to discipline, potentially dismissal.
Another benefit to the corporation for keeping the companies separate!
