MYID standby travel
Is the company able to track the use of standby travel on the MYID booking system on other airlines the way it can keep track and audit employees use of standby travel through the AC network?

If you're thinking about doing what it seems like you are. Bad idea!

6 months can't come soon enough? Yes it's a retarded restriction, but I wouldn't risk losing the travel benefits because I couldn't wait a few extra months.

Nope. No airline Management has the brain processing capability to realize that you booked off a weekend pairing in between 7 GDOs and this gives you 14 days off in a row, while you try to get from Rome to Vienna then Barcelona on vacation on random airlines.UndisputedTruth wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 1:53 pm Is the company able to track the use of standby travel on the MYID booking system on other airlines the way it can keep track and audit employees use of standby travel through the AC network?

Oh, then it's the sick thing. Anyway, AC can track both travel.aircanada and myIDtravel. What I'd also like to know is about the companies that aren't on myIDtravel and you book directly over the phone/at the counter.

I highly doubt this can be tracked since it would require the other airline to disclose personal information which is sensitive and could violate some privacy laws.
Re: MYID standby travel
It's always possible you get sick on vacation as well. In combination with starting this topic it's obviously uber suspicious. But in itself it's not evidence of any wrongdoing.
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: MYID standby travel
They probably can't track myid listings but they do have to issue the zed ticket for you to travel on them. This can be tracked.

I've known a few peeps who were suspended/demoted for stuff like that, company actually snooped through their social media, or they brought their work tablet somewhere and company geo-localized them and caught them lying.

Re: MYID standby travel
If you want to travel on MyIDTravel when you're sick and off work, just e-mail your manager and explain to them why you need to travel. There are many reasons to travel when you're sick.
There are many people end up getting dental work in Eastern Europe, because it's way cheaper. You can have a family emergency. People go to the US for quicker accesss to urgent tests, etc.
Remember, management will help you out if you're honest. Don't screw around. It's not worth it, not that I think they can track that on MyIDTravel (just my guess, but I wouldn't know, nor ecourage it).

I will reserve judgement on why people will do stuff that’s not in their best interests but pilots aren’t immune, nor are doctors, engineers, etc.

If you aren't allowed to book off if you aren't sick what do commuting pilots do if you can't get on a flight to your base?

What exactly are you asking here? Do you think the only reasonable thing to do is to call in sick if you can't make your commute? Firstly, some airlines have commuting policies that account for a commuter not being able to make it to base. Usually something along the lines of having listed yourself for at least 2 flights prior to the last available flight to still make your duty. Do pilots use sick days as a life line at places without commuting policies? Yes, but thats not whats being asked here.
We're pretty sure OP wants to know if his personal travel is visible to the company in case he wants to extend his time off by booking off sick.

He's asking if on vacation you can't make it back in time. Not regular commuting from domicile to baseTbayer2021 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 1:15 pmitsgrosswhatinet wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 1:08 pm If you aren't allowed to book off if you aren't sick what do commuting pilots do if you can't get on a flight to your base?
