When writing the PPAER. You can, I guess use an electronic computer instead of the "roulette".
But can you use an app? With your phone plane mode ?

As far as I know, they won't knowingly let you into the room with your phone on your person.

Wizz wheel protractor, chart rule, and a normal calculator is all you need for that test.

You 100% cannot bring your phone in the room. CX3 and CX2 are approved electronic flight computers. Maybe others but I don't know. The CX series is for sure.

Here's a list of all the electronic devices you are allowed to bring into the exam. Anything outside of this list isn't allowed with you. Most of the invigilators I've had have also asked me to remove the batteries and reinsert them in front of them (to prove that you've wiped the memory functions).

Edit: Regarding the battery removal, I have a CX-3, which is one of the calculators with the * on the list.
