Airlines asking for 1000 hours minimum time, pilots are going to Jazz, Encore, Porter with 750 to 1000 hours & starting $15,000 to $25,000 higher than your pay and without training bonds
Is your company trying to attract experienced pilots? Or are your job ad hiring minimums false?

Last I heard perimeter still has training bonds too, not sure about the others. Hilarious considering the current job market. If these companies want to operate as pilot factories where they can at least get a couple years out of pilots before they leave (cause god forbid you make the operation attractive enough to retain long term) then they need to adapt their training for lower time pilots. That way pilots will stick around long enough to get the experience they need before moving onto a career airline. Essentially allowing pilots to skip the “regional” step and go straight to a mainline carrier. No one with 1000 hrs looking to set themselves up for a future in this expensive country would consider these operations imo.
As these companies start to lose money due to lack of pilots (to a greater extent than they currently are) they’ll either smarten up or disappear.

This one from CMA is even more of a joke
Central Mountain Air
First Officer - Dash 8 - Calgary
- 1000 hours total time*
- 1000 MPIC
Salary: $46,000-$65,000
They want 1000hrs of Multi PIC to pay you $46,000/year! I seriously hope no one is actually considering this. Go to Encore or Jazz with that kind of time and make nearly double.

They are. I got a call from CMA with 700hrs last year. I was going to go through except they "said" I'm going to get the base I want 2 months after hire. I told them to put it in the agreement before I sign it. Never heard anything back. Dodged a bullet as now I am 150% more happy with what I got

These salaries suck, but let's be honest, neither jazz or encore pay anything close to double. In fact they pay about the same as the high end posted above for CMA.

I took the salaries as starting and top scale in which case, it’s still not double to start but it is about 45% higher and about 60% top scale, takes a while to get there though.
I would think hands down Jazz or Encore over the above mentioned companies but I’m biased

I assume the companies post higher requirements to weed out the 250 hr guys applying…”As it was in the past”
Most probably if you had the ballz to apply, you’ll get a response back.
But yea this is legit ridiculous for pay and work.

I think you airline guys are out of touch with reality.
Even last year there were plenty of 1000 hr guys not getting on with Jazz/Encore, where do you suggest these guys go? Is flying a king air/metro better on a resume or more cessna time?
Hiring has slowed dramatically this year, so “this hiring environment” isn’t exactly the same as 2022-2023.

What do you mean?
I hear an Air Canada 777 FO makes the same or less money.

Bob knows a lot more than me about these things and the economy, but if I read things right, within a year any low timer getting a job should be thankful…..
Could be wrong of course.

You've been saying that since 2020, but if you make a thousand predictions then sooner or later one of them will be correct, I guess.

You guys all know more .
My only consistent advice to young pilots, has been don’t load up on debt, cause the future is uncertain. And even if it isn’t.
Sure your advice might be better.

Most recent CMA pay I know of is the Dornier Capt’s are getting offered 95K, 20 days a month working, 2 days off a week that are staggered.
You can go make 130K as a King Air 200 Capn and get 7-14 days off in a row, with way less working days a year. I don’t understand how they expect to attract and keep qualified captains with that kind of Pay/Sched.
Will be interesting once the AC contract is settled and everyone moves around.
95K is not enough to have a house and support a family these days! I can’t wait to see some more pay increases and QOL upgrades across the board.

I don’t know, I started my first job end of Oct 2001.

As far as Sunwest, whatever they post as a pay range you will definitely start at the bottom of that range and never see the top of that scale. Finding a raise is light finding hens teeth and you’ll get a lot of “you should be thankful for what you’ve got” from the current management. Plus bonds.

Does anyone out there have any up to date information on FO pay at CMA?
As of December 2019
Dash level 3 FO is $42845.00/yr and 24month $20500.00 training bond
Don’t know what level one would be but definitely lower which is pretty awful.
As far as the 1900 Captain level 1 is $57500/yr and a 12 month $10000.00 training bond.
Level 5 1900 FO is $40800/yr
I don’t know what their “Competitive Compensation” is being compared to.
Honestly if you want to make more money and have a good schedule you’re better off as a garbage man
$2800/ month rent + $200/ month utilities
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-apartments-cond ... 1698760917
$36000 / year rent

Dash level 3 FO is $42845.00/yr and 24month $20500.00 training bond
$42845.00/yr - $5600 tax - $36000 / year rent ?
Does CMA pay for the car? cell?
