Aviation Internships

Hi there, I'm entering year three of my co-op degree at university, specializing in aviation. It's always been my dream to be a pilot, and I'm looking for a co-op/internship to broaden my understanding of the aviation industry and to make meaningful connections with fellow pilots, airport workers, and aviation enthusiasts.

I seem to find a lot of programs like that in the states, but nothing north of the border. So I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to find aviation-related internships in Canada? Thank you.

You haven’t given near enough information about your course of study to point you towards possible job options. What are you actually looking for? Dispatching? Pilot? Maintenance? Accounting? “Year three of a co-op degree specializing in aviation” means very little.

Internship typically means “work for free”. That is not ok here and might even be against the Canada labour code for minimum wage.

Hey 9/16, I'm majoring in environmental studies. I'm not looking for a "pilot" co-op per se as I don't have my CPL, but student co-op opportunites in the aviation industry, as I have not seen much being offered here in Canada - most are full time only and require years of experience.

I'm not looking to work for free.

You probably won’t find any opportunities because there’s still a fairly deep pool of pilots who will do anything and everything closely related to aviation to build connections and satisfy their addiction.

I don’t think you’ll find any student co-op environmental study positions in aviation here, that’s just a little too narrow and specific, I don’t think it exists but could be wrong.

What you could find if you’re just looking for an association with aviation to scratch that itch is a part time job fuelling, handling baggage, customer service, ramp work, deicing, grooming, etc., lots of smaller and larger aviation companies take part time folks for those type of roles. Just depends where you are in the country and what you’re looking for.
