Is it slower in your school?
Hey everyone,
Just looking to get other instructors feedback. It feels like I’ve done a lot less hours in September than I did last year same month for a similar weather, and generally speaking things are slower at the school/airport (that’s in BC).
How do you find it? Seems like it was crazy after the end of COVID for a couple of years and really been slowing down this last year. Is this just my area?
Just makes me worried as meanwhile cost of life is ever increasing.

Re: Is it slower in your school?
Cost of living crisis, economy in per-capita recession, and airlines going bust left and right. Over the long term aviation will be in decent shape worldwide (assuming the carbon doomsday cult doesn't get their way), but the frenzy of the post-covid years will probably not happen again. Flight training is just too expensive for the starting salaries offered by employers, and there are way too many obstacles (bureaucratic, medical, etc.) compared to any other job.
Which means aviation will slowly drift back to being in the realm of the hardcore aviation enthusiasts, as it was in the past.

I think your logic is a bit flawed. If things were slow, you'd be flying more because there would be more availability of aircraft and instructors.

I think you may have missed that the original poster is an instructor and apparently is reporting that the school, or at least he, has fewer active students.
Being stupid around airplanes is a capital offence and nature is a hanging judge!

All the schools in my area on the West Coast have waiting lists for new students. They is still a significant instructor shortage
