AIM RAC 4.5.2
FYI, procedures for operating at uncontrolled airports have been substantially updated in the October 3 AIM edition.

Five stars, no notes.
I'm not sure what's more depressing: That everyone has a price, or how low the price always is.

It feels like Christmas day! Now all they need to do is highlight the uselessness of reading back "Standby" to ATC.

If only there was an update with all of the new changes that arrived in your mail every 120 days that allowed you to be notified and read about all of the changes.
Re: AIM RAC 4.5.2
I heard a Nav Canada jet pilot say that. I was like, “even them?!”

As much as I applaud this, am I the only one that thinks it sad that we are no longer reading “best practices” but are rather now reading what NOT to do?

You mean the AIC? Where you had to sit there for hours taking pages out of a binder and replacing it with other pages?mmm...bacon wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 3:19 pm If only there was an update with all of the new changes that arrived in your mail every 120 days that allowed you to be notified and read about all of the changes.
Re: AIM RAC 4.5.2
That was the AIP and it was awesome. You learned a lot more from that than the AIM which just magically appears on your EFB.. most likely never to be read.

I get that by having signed up and registering my preferences through TC's e-bulletin. https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/transp ... e-bulletinmmm...bacon wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 3:19 pm If only there was an update with all of the new changes that arrived in your mail every 120 days that allowed you to be notified and read about all of the changes.
Once you download the whole document as a PDF, go to the Changes section right after the cover. https://tc.canada.ca/sites/default/file ... _eoc-e.pdf
It lists everything that changed. Then just click on the hyperlink (in blue) of the section that changed and it takes you right to the page where the change has occurred. Easy peasy.
Yeah, I miss my more youthful days of sitting in front of a fireplace during the winter with those brown envelopes, opening and closing my white plastic binder and tossing the balled-up old pages into the fireplace. Then again, I also miss my more youthful days in general.

It's also a mandatory ICAO publication. It boggles my mind that they treat it as an afterthought.
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: AIM RAC 4.5.2
I think that the ICAO mandated AIP is a little different from our former “white binder” AIP, thus the change to the AIM.
We now have:

Thanks! After some clicking I found this page: https://www.navcanada.ca/en/aeronautica ... anada.aspxMr. Lutsch wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 7:30 am I think that the ICAO mandated AIP is a little different from our former “white binder” AIP, thus the change to the AIM.

I didn't even know that existed. Perhaps a new way of publishing things? A shame that the aerodrome part is almost empty though. Would have been nice to have the CFS data in there.

Re: AIM RAC 4.5.2
That is the plan apparently. The CFS, CAP and Enroute Charts are all actually part of the AIP as it states on the cover page of those products. I believe eventually the AIP will be a one-stop-shopping site for all the necessary publications. Not sure when this is going to happen though.
