Jazz FO requirements

Post by Dreamer789 »

Howdy!

My first time posting/asking something here…so i am thinking of going to flight school at MFC and would like to take the ICPC.

My question, how many hours of flight time are they realistically looking for in new hires at Jazz? I’ve been looking at their ads and they say the minimum requirement is 500 hrs…is that true?

I am not sure yet how many hours TT i will have after coming out of flight school and how many hours I would have to instruct to build the rest, but I would like to have a realistic idea of what I would need to do to be able to get hired by Jazz as a new pilot.

Thank you all!!

If you get one of those Jazz awards, you can be hired fresh out of school. If you are a graduate from one of those pathways schools, you may be interviewed at the 500TT minimums. Otherwise, the average new hire in my class earlier this year seemed to be sitting between 800-1200 hours - mostly instructors and a handful of folks with turboprop experience (Saab 340, ATR's, etc.). However, keep in mind that the industry is constantly changing. At the beginning of the year, there were new hire classes every three weeks and now they've cancelled all classes in the fall from my understanding (save for that class of new hires from Cygnet). No point worrying too much about the current picture if you haven't even started your training yet as the reality will likely be totally different by the time you're ready to start working. Good luck with your training and enjoy the journey 8)

MFC is not a Jazz Pathway school nor one that gives out Jazz awards to the best of my knowledge. I could be wrong though

Very competitive from what I’ve seen. My colleague who has a lot of king air training captain experience hasn’t received an offer from Jazz. I’m thinking about leaving g the industry due to lack of value airlines have for experience. You basically need to know someone to get hired. The training captains at jazz must shake their heads when HR hires low time instructors who haven’t been out of the circuit instead of experienced applicants whom have experience in high density airspace.
There are several reasons why applicants at any level of experience may or may not be considered for a job.

You’ll be able to find a job somewhere with your 250 hours. It may or not be jazz, but patience is a virtue. Some of the best jobs out there are flying around for smaller companies, especially with low time pilots. The experience you will gain is incredible.
