• Overseas experience

Hi

Genuine question :

I went overseas pretty young thanks to a cadet program.
I had almost my whole (over 5000) experience there flying 705 jets. But now that I am back to motherland I find it challenging to get interviews/callbacks, despite the fact that I am waaay beyond their requirements.

Does the overseas experience count less ? Do I need like to pick up a 703 or other job here before I get a chance to the jobs I really want ? How should I proceed ?

A bit odd that you're not getting any traction with that type of total time and almost 2000 of command time in what I assume is a 705 machine? Can you give us a more detailed breakdown of your experience?

Yes, flew mostly 737 out of a “third world country” serving Europe Asia and a bit of Africa with a captain position being the last position.

I got one response out of 7 705 apps. And one PFO from transat which is weird

Either there’s something you’re not telling us or too much of the “third world” is really showing up in your resume and correspondence.

Africa doesn’t mean bad… it means very inconsistent in my experience. The best and worst pilots I’ve ever flown with flew in Africa.

Honestly I never had any issues whatsoever or anything worth hiding. I did fly for one airline the whole time when I was overseas, but that shouldn’t be a problem, should it ?

Your long tenure with one airline is definitely not going hurt your application. But radio silence from 7 different 705s, which includes every major 705 in the country, along with 2 direct rejections is a conundrum. Maybe there is nothing wrong with your profile and it's just a matter of waiting. Maybe you're the latest iteration of KN84 and will start asking why 705s here don't like foreign 705 time.

Not sure if airlines are running it now but lots of problems in other fields with AI doing the first look over of resumes with lots of candidates never getting filtered into a person to look.
It could be that a resume with only foreign time is just getting filtered out by an AI resume reader.

I don't know if you are the same guy I spoke to on other social media platforms, but I will tell you what I told the guy in the "same place as you".

Pilots from the country you flew in are notorious for faking credentials. I can say this as I was born and brought up there before my family moved to Canada at a very early age. It is VERY difficult for a 705 here to verify the hours and the credentials.

I recommend getting a job in Canada (703, 704, 604, instructor, flying a broomstick, doesn't matter) and then reapply to these companies after 6 months.

I mean if he applied to DEC only I can see why there might be hesitation since he is not too familiar with NA ops. But if he applied for FO possitions too (AC, WJ, Porter), then it's a real head scratcher. Or an upgrade from King Air to 737.

If you applied for a DEC position, my guess is you're not gonna get it as you need local experience on the right seat, once you start making a good impression jumping on the LS will be easy.

And if you applied for a RS position, then things are slow at the moment just hang tight, i suggest you find a hobby or a few weeks long training something like how to make pastries just not to get bored.

Something important however, if you haven't done so already, try get a police certificate of wherever you were, it's required for your RAIC.

Hi,
Don’t recall talking to anyone outside here. But the company where I flew is fairly known in Europe and ME, didn’t heard of anybody having problems justifying or verifying their credentials.
