Why does load block dash 8 flights for Weight and balance?

Post by Scantron »

Just curious why jazz blocks seats for load including the JS? This is out of YYZ. Is the Jazz Q400 not capable of a full load off of 100000 feet?

Short flights it could be landing weight, long flights could be a matter of alternate fuel requirements.

I suspect there’s also not much interest in problem solving for non-rev standby passengers. I don’t know how AC Commercial feels about loads being capped and if they push to open as many seats as possible.

Probably not a takeoff weight restriction. Max landing weight is more likely the issue when taking extra fuel for weather/delays. If you are not delayed you end up too heavy to land.

First of all 100,000 feet is quite high.

The second issue, I think is you don’t understand how weight and balance works. There a lot of factors into play and if you dive into the Manuals you can unearth these rather easily. As mentioned above, it’s definitely due to the short flying .

And all airlines gives zero Fãčķš about non rev seats. So if you’re waiting for a seat on a Q , take a train.

I believe he meant off of a 10k feet long runway.

As said, it’s typically landing weight, I have experienced it myself as a Jazz commuter, the pilots did manage to get me on and ended up having to descend early to burn a few hundred extra pounds of fuel to be under weight on landing.

Ahh my apologies then. I read It incorrectly.

But regardless 10k would also be 10,000 not 100,000. So never mind the unit of distance or height, it’s still wrong

Max zero fuel weight actually comes into play a lot for the jumpseat with a full flight. Lots of bags + some cargo = no fun on the commute.

Or balance.
Full seats and light on bags can put the plane near the forward limit.

Ironic that they're bumping rev passengers because they charge for, and thus discourage checked bags that would solve the balance problem and allow the rev passengers.

You could use ballast.

Lack of checked baggage…… AC had similar problems on the MAX8.

I believe that. I find it funny that airlines will tanker fuel in order to save 40$ but then load 700 lbs of sand to carry with them.
